Numbers in parentheses in my sig indicate the draft pick I would surrender to keep a player. Since these three would all require a 7th round pick I can keep only one.
I had been thinking Thomas, but with his possible slowing down and loss of starts and Spezza's play this year I'm not so sure anymore. Long term considerations are minimal because these players would cost a 5th to keep for 2013-14, a 3rd to keep for 2014-15 and so would no longer be bargains. Of course it's possible that none of the three is a bargain for a 7th round pick (~77th overall). Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated

In a "weekly starts" league, I probably wouldn't keep Thomas.
Very probably that a final year of contract occurs the way Osgood/Howard had in Detroit. I'd prefer top end forwards over top end D... even with 2/2/2/4 format. Spezza, for me. |

I think I would go with Spezza. He had a great year. His only knock on him before was that he was frequently injured. When he was healthy though he was around PPG. He managed to stay relatively healthy this season. It also helps that Ottawa has lots of excellent talent coming in soon. I also think that Spezza would be the best value for the 7th pick. If you drop him I'd say he goes in like round 2 or 3.

Spezza for me, especially if Jokinen is your next best C. Thomas is a risk because I feel like you'll only get one more good year out of him. Suter's great, but your depth on D is decent, and I think you can manage a loss there more than the top end loss at C.

I guess I wasn't clear. Crosby was a given. I meant that if Spezza's gone you've got a signigicant drop off to Jokinen, so it would be best not to lose Spezza. If you're starting 2 C, then Crosby and Spezza looks a lot better than Crosby and Jokinen.

Ya id go with Spezza here. Thomas will be lucky to see more than 50% of starts next season and although Suter could move and end up somewhere like Detroit I think Spezza gives you the best value and impact for the pick.

I agree with the others, Spezza is your guy. I will say that I'd much rather keep either Anderson or Dubnyk than Brodeur, just FYI.
