New to fantasy baseball this year and drafted Marmol as one of my top RP based on the top pitchers list on this site. Obviously he's not in a favourable situation in Chicago. Thinking about dropping him for Brett Myers - not a much better situation but off to a much better start. I'm in a small 9-team league but most closers are taken. The reason I'm asking about this swap instead of just doing it is because there is speculation that Marmol might be traded, which would impact his value. Would he be traded to be a closer elsewhere or would he be a middle reliever? He seems highly regarded but has been pretty brutal thus far. Just trying to gauge how droppable he is. Thanks for any insights.

Definitely grab B.Myers.
I'm surprised he's available, you can put him in your SP spot and he'll get SV. Sweet.

I'd probably drop some other player to make room.
Marmol is streaky, but I wouldn't drop him.

Thanks Pengwin, that's what I'm thinking. Surprised he's sitting on the wire too. I'm using all my bench spots for pitching though so it would have to be a pitcher that goes if I drop someone besides Marmol. I don't see another pitcher that is more droppable in my roster (player list included in my original post). Being a 9-team league there are a hanful of guys that are normally scooped up that aren't. I thought that might make Marmol expendable.

In a one-year league, I'd probably just drop Pomeranz.
Dropping him in a keeper depends on how many players you keep year-to-year.

Yeah I'd grab Myers. As for Marmol he will get traded at some point this year and most likely he'll end up as a setup man somewhere to help a contending team who already has an established closer so I do not think his value will be favorable when that happens.

Yeah, that's a good call. We're a full keeper though so that's why I was hesitant to drop him.

Good insight here, thanks. I know we like to hold guys and get the most value for them in return as opposed to dropping them. But based on this it sounds like he may not have great value for any real length of time for the foreseeable future. In a small league like ours, I'm not sure I'd get worthwhile return compared to a guy like Myers on the wire.

I'd drop Marmol for Myers if I were you. Marmol isn't good enough to be a closer on most teams in baseball. He'd likely be traded and become a setup man.

Thanks, pulled the switch. I would have shopped Marmol a bit if I was in a deeper league, but I couldn't take a chance on someone else scooping Myers.
