Hey guys,

tried searching but couldn't find anything on him....

i have not seen too many avalanche games, plus he was injured a lot this year, but what do ppl think about him? was this just a bad year? I really thought this would be a breakout year for him, but now i dont really know what to make of him...

What do you guys think? whats his up side and how long till he gets there? Is he a good "buy low" candidate?

Perhaps you can't find anything on him because you have his first name wrong.

Its Matt Duchene, not Steve.

Cheers

Technically both names wrong- lol!

Hes a tough one. I think hes got impeccable raw skills- hes downright dazzling on the ice. His problems seem to stem from a downgrade in work ethic since his rookie season where apparently he took a very noticable step back and a few bad habits started to creep into his game. This year those issues seem to have compounded with an apparent feud between him and Sacco coming to light.

Hes still very young though and a good chance this is just part of the development process.

To me he was a 95% surefire superstar but I might have downgraded that to 80-85%.

Still a very very good chance he becomes an elite player but you never like to see any sort of bust potential this early on...

Steve Duchesne was part of the massive trade that saw Eric Lindros dealt from the Quebec Nordiques to the Philadelplia Flyers.

Matt Duchene is a soon-to-be star who has struggled to adjust to being in a strict system under a strict coach. Remember that prospect development is never linear.

Steve Duchesne retired at the end of the 2001-02 season after a decent career playing for 6 NHL franchises. He had 752 career points in 1113 games played. From a fantasy perspective, he was a stud for many years, putting up over 55 pts a season many times and even had an 82 pt season once.

That's about all I can tell you about him.

Realistically what do you think we can expect from him next year? 65 points?? i noticed that he was bumped off the top line... i expected duchene to bump stasny off the top line and make him tradable, but now i am not too sure what to expect from him....
