Hey guys,
Team in sig. We are in the midst of drafting right now (message board draft, very slow moving -- a round per day maybe). I just took Brian Wilson with my last pick (2nd round). The Cliff Lee owner has some pitching depth and threw out that Lee could be available because he has an expiring contract after this season. What it will take to get him is Wilson + Skaggs + 7th Rd. for Lee + 10th Rd. I feel the value is there even though Wilson can be signed to a multi-year deal and Skaggs has risen pretty significantly over the past year. However, my question is whether this becomes overkill for my rotation at the expense of an area that is already a need area (saves). I will have Pineda called up from the farm for Anderson all year. I'd probably end up buying out Nolasco if I made this trade. Kershaw + Lee + Garza + Pineda + Hanson just seems too filthy to pass up. Jansen may get saves and McGee has an outside shot. I'd have to probably draft CP CP in the next two rounds if I made this deal so as to not be left at the bottom of the pack in saves. There are some decent options left: Santos Motte League Street Betancourt Farnsworth Francisco Balfour Johnson Addison Reed Thornton De Los Santos Javy Guerra (who I figure I have to take anyway) We are at pick 3.03 right now. I pick #9. So, six picks before my next pick then 11 before the next. If I think that two guys above the bottom two are available for me at my picks, do I pull the trigger on this? NOTE: Unless I go out and acquire a re-sign, I cannot re-sign Cliff Lee. However, I may be able to trade him to someone with a re-sign next off-season to recoup an asset out of the deal. |

I'd do the deal. Lee is an elite arm, and you can add two pretty solid relievers in the draft. Like you said, your rotation would be stacked and you could always trade Lee later. I'd do the deal if I were you and then adjust your draft accordingly.
