I have the opportunity to acquire Carlos Gonzalez. My team is HURTING in the hitting department, as guys like Jones/Coghlan are early season busts, and guys like Sizemore/Longoria/Morales aren't exactly lighting it up.

I don't see myself competing with the top teams already, as my roster feels thin. Does Carlos Gonzalez have high upside? I am giving up a pick, and would only like to do so if this guy can be a potential keeper. Don't want to be trading away picks for band-aid solutions, when my team isn't showing me much.

I think you're being too hard on your team. It's very early to label Jones and Coghlan as a bust. Yes with Coghlan there was a risk that he could turn into a non-hitter and fade out as quickly as he came in. The only good thing I can offer is that he's at least self aware of that and may motivate him more. A slump is expected just bench him for now and see how the season progresses.

Give your more proven players time to get in that groove. Hell I have Fielder in a couple leagues and he's getting out homered by Alex Gonazalez.... who the hell is Alex Gonzalez?

As for CarGo alot of his hype came soley on what people saw him do when he came to the Rockies. Based off those stats he could be an easy 20/20 or even 30/30. Is it unrealistic to put such high expectations on him? Sure, but that's the risk people are willing to take when they drafted him. He hasn't hit a home run or stole a base yet so I don't know where that puts him with you. Without a full season with the Rockies it's hard to say if he would be part of only 6 keepers. I like him but I only managed to snag him in one league as people were grabbing him way too early in the draft.

Hard on my team? No way! haha. Honestly I took it in the chin last week from a division rival who on paper is a sure fire favourite. Obviously I know its early but I'm just disgusted with Coghlan seems to strikeout everytime he's up to bat giving me a guaranteed minus 1. As for Jones, as high as he's been ranked on every list I've looked at, I just expected him to be more useful.

Anyways, I understand what you're saying, I think I may wait on the deal a little bit...more based on the other GM wanting a lot more than he initially asked for...thanks for the input
