Default Moustakas or Avila

With the team I have below in my signature which one of these two prospects would you choose to fill my last minor league roster spot?

I am looking for who will most likely play this year and/or have a better long term projection!

Thanks for the help in advance!

Cheers!

You can go two different routes. Avila appears to be major league ready now. You could draft him and shop around Iannetta for a potential 3B man to replace the aging Chipper Jones.

The other option is to hang on to Moustakas who has the higher ceiling between the two.

Yeah you are correct about trying to get a potential 3B for replacing Chipper but I'm not sure anyone would take Iannetta.

There is also Jeff Clement available. Would you think he would be a better option over Moustakas or Avila?

I'd still go Avila. Clement won't be playing C this year (so he'll lose it next year), so if you're looking for a catcher, Avila is the guy I go with. If you're looking purely for AB, Clement should get them, and in the minors showed he's a pretty good hitter. Still hasn't translated to the majors yet, although he's starting to heat up.

I wouldn't discount no want wanting Iannetta. I think he still has trade value and think you can play the wait and see thing with him.

djkiang, thanks for the info! I have picked up Avila and am deciding who to drop between Jose Guillen, Scott Olsen and Freddy Garcia.

My 3B could be fulfilled......I may be offered Alex Gordon for Gil Meche. I know Gordon is hurt but I could put him on my IR. Would this be a smart trade for me? We are allowed daily transactions with all players. So pitching can be in demand.

Yes, although Meche is underrated, it's a trade worth making. Pitching is easier to find on the wire and Gordon although injury prone, has got to break out soon....right?!?
