OV without a doubt. As usual this board is ridiculously "what have you done for me lately?".

Giroux for me... and this is coming from someone who traded Giroux away for Ovie at the start of the season.

Yeah, he only has what....43 points the last 47 regular season games since december and about 30 of those are goals? I might be slightly off. Most (all?) of this is without Backstrom in the lineup as well and he has been trending upwards. Add a Mike Green that is looking more and more like his old self and I've got a feeling we'll be seeing the 60 goal Ovi again next season.

Maybe Hunter has cut down a little on the ice time, but he also lets Ovi play harder when he's out there. Ovechkin clearly feeds energy from hitting other players and being physical, and Hunter lets him do that.

Buy low on Ovechkin. I predict 62,33-95 next season.

Anyone who predicted OV would have a worse year this year compared to last, stand up and be heard. Anyone?? Anyone out there predict he'd drop ANOTHER 20 pts from the previous year and be a minus player? Anyone???

I guess the real answer to the "what have you done for me lately" question as it pertains to OV, is simple. Not as much as Giroux. I like to look forward, not back. Thats all most OV owners can do these days.

I hope OV comes back and proves me, and a lot of other people wrong when it comes to his performance. But until he does, he will continue to be the player that was. The player that still can be, if he really wants to. Right now, Giroux wants to be that player. I will take that going forward every day.

I agree that he board often is, and probably some answers here are as well. But considering that Ovechkin has went from 109 to 85 to 65 points (with a stellar finish this year to get him above 60) and his team is now even more commited to a defensive system....why wouldn't you take Giroux? Goals are not a factor....shots are not a factor.

Who would you put more money on getting 90 pts next year...Giroux or Ovechkin?

if this is the case I take Ovi, just for the chance he goes bat s*it crazy and back to his old self.

5 points is not going to ruin my fantasy year, but Ovi's plus 20 might make it.

OV for me and it isn’t a hard choice. I always go for the homerun.

There have been endless ‘what’s wrong with Ovechkin’ discussions the two few years. Is it the team system? Was he messed up after the poor showing by Russia in the Olympics? Is he out of shape? I have no insight into these questions. However I do believe that a guy who, for a time, made himself the best player in the world can find a way to turn things around.

This isn’t a guy who just teased us with potential, he has been there. I don’t know if he needs to grow up or get slapped by the right coach or get married to the right person or get traded or become a Jedi but I think that once he gets his head sorted out his hockey skills and mind will make him an elite star again. My money is on this happening sooner rather then later: enough to hit the three year window.

Giroux for me. 93 points this season, 14 in 6 games in the playoffs, he plays for a deep offensive team, surrounded by talent, he's trending up, and his coach likes him.

Ovie is trending down, he's just had his worst season, he has problems with his coaches, seems to have attitude issues, his current coach has no problem benching him in the 3rd if the team has a lead...

I know how good Ovechkin can be. He won me my draft in his rookie season; but for the next 3 years I'll take who I see as the sure thing, and the guy who is trending up.

Again: OV without a doubt. Why even ask that question when I've already stated my position?

I'm way too tired after a loooooong work day to list all the factors I look at in this case, but it's not just as simple as looking at points on a year-to-year basis. OV's going to get back up there next year. You just have to look at the little things, same as what I did before this season when I said that Pominville would get back to scoring lots of points and Spezza too.

Great stuff guys, alot of top guys getting some opinions in and taking time to vote. No one can tell what will happen with injuries, line changes, coaching changes, etc. So this will be interesting to bring back up after next season and even if Giroux does keep up his stride, still 2 more years that this can swing back.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't got in on this. Give us your thoughts, or at least a vote.
