yes, i would think so too. I bet hitch gives elliott one or two losses and then he will switch back to halak (if ready)... and continue with that pattern for the rest of the playoffs. he has shown already these playoffs, that if you don't bring your A-game, you sit. Stewart and Coli have already ridden the bench after questionable performances while during the season he cut them both a lot more slack...

Goaltender Jarolslav Halak's left ankle injury will keep him sidelined for the duration of the series with Los Angeles.
Coach Ken Hithcock made the announcement following the Blues' 5-2 loss to the Kings in Game 2 on Monday night. Halak injured his left ankle in Game 2 of the San Jose series when he was run into by teammate Barrett Jackman. Halak skated with the team since suffering the injury, but he obviously did not progress to the point he could return for the second round series against the Kings regardless of duration. Per rotoworld (source St. Louis Post-Dispatch):
"Jaroslav Halak hasn't fully recovered from the high-ankle sprain that ended his participation in the 2012 playoffs. Halak sustained the injury in Game 2 of the Blues' first round series. "He's still experiencing a little bit of ... I don't want to say pain, but a little discomfort when he does some movement," Blues GM Doug Armstrong said. "The injury lingers, and for a goalie, because of the movement that's necessary, it takes a little longer than maybe for a skater. But we've had a lot of time on our hands, so it hasn't been an issue. We expect him to be cleared by July 21 and he thinks he'll be ready to go. He's not coming back (to St. Louis) until August, so we're happy with his progress." In other words, he should be fine for the start of the 2012-13 campaign."

Is it just me or is Dobber's comment on Halak/St Louis in today's ramblings completely "AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!"? He had a high ankle sprain and he's progressing on schedule. What's the big ****ing deal?

I do think he'll be fine. Hell, the season is several months away and possibly longer ( CBA) I am sure he'll be fine when the season starts, but it still makes me nervous.

Crosby had a high ankle sprain a couple years ago, hasn't been injured since...
![]() Honestly, high ankle sprains take a long time to heal. Like a whole summer. Although, inconvenient that it happened in the playoffs, having the summer to treat it is way better than if it had happened in the season. He should be fine. I have to decide between him and Ward. That is going to be a tricky decision.

I give him a bit of a higher upside on starts, maybe as many as 60 (if they play a full schedule, that is). But yep, I agree. Business as usual.
