Kessel's broken the 30G barrier 4x in a row, but other than this season where he has 81pts, hes had similar points to Burrows, while Burrows maintains a double digit + and rakes in pims.
He wants my Kessel for his Burrows. shud I do this?

NO .... Kessel is 5th in the league in scoring this year. Burrows would not have put up those numbers in years past without the Sedins and I always prefer the player that can create their own offence rather than the player that is relying on others. PIMs are easy to pick up somewhere else.

It's a good idea to look at the past, but it's also key to look ahead at their respective careers. Kessel is entering his prime and should be a constant scoring threat as well as the undisputed go-to guy in Toronto. Burrows turns 32 in a few days and is not the same player that put up 67 points. I don't think he'll ever hit 55 again. His style of play makes him take a ton of abuse and I think injuries could become a factor at some point.

Obviously, that's a no brainer to turn down that offer.
But, to call Burrows a 'plug' in a league that has those scoring cats is crazy. The fact he is getting up there in age is definitely a big factor too. For anyone that doesn't watch him play a lot....to say he isn't very skilled and the only reason he's put up those pts was because of the Sedins....not even close to accurate.

I'm gonna agree with the trend here. Burrows stats aren't heading in the right direction. Age + style of play + the emergence of younger talent is going to whittle away at his overall stats. Kessel is entering his prime and as you noted has already posted 3 straight 30 goal seasons.
While i don't expect Kessell to be 80 ever year i would expect at least 30 G 70 P from now on. That combined with the huge variance in shots on goal (100 in kessel's favour) make this really not a close option. Politely decline this offer sir. It's not enough payment.

I definitely would NOT trade Kessel for Burrows though lol, I wouldn't even consider it and I'd personally be insulted with an offer like that. Plus if you're looking to sell high on Kessel after this great season Burrows wouldn't be the guy I'd be targeting. |
