Default keepers for 2012

Looking to keep 5 for next year. I've won my league, looking to dish off guys for draft picks now. Traded Lehtonen and my last pick for a 5th round pick and Green and my 2nd last pick for an 8th round pick back at the trade deadline.

Keepers:

Ovechkin
Malkin
Kovy
Karlsson
Tavares

Near-Keepers:
Halak
Radulov

Any suggestions on trading for a goalie (start 2). This could hurt me next year as most teams are keeping a goalie. Have made multiple offers for Lundquist, Rinne, Fleury but no dice. Any one else worth shooting for?

your 5 keepers look good to me. You shouldnt have a problem trading Tavares for a stud goalie if you go that route. Kovalchuk is probably who you'd want to trade, but JT will give you that much better value.

Lundqvist, Quick, Rinne would be my top 3 goalies to go after. If you can get any of them without giving up Malkin/Karlsson, I'd do it. Yes even Ovechkin - hes worth more than any goalie straight up, but if you could get Lundqvist and picks it might be worth making.

You've made plays for King Henrik, Rinne, and MAF but have you taken a stab at acquiring Jonathon Quick? He might even bear more fruit than a couple of the guys for which you've made moves.

I think he is a name that still has question marks surrounding it - for whatever ungodly reason - so his trade price could be a bit less, especially if his manager is in a similar situation with keeping goalies. You might be able to make a move at Quick without seriously comprimising your keeper F corps. Complete, unabashed stud goaltender playing in a defensive system. Seems legit to me.

That would be my first move before making offers of JT, Malkin, AO for a stud goalie.

Price is still hugely undervalued.

This is the right keeper group.
At worst, you can EASILY trade one of these guys for a goalie to open next year.

Your goalie cats are not as valueable w/o the other peripherals. Emphasis on W/SO only, might be able to get by re-drafting the likes of M Smith, Varly, Elliot, etc..Or consider buying low on Miller, Price, Byrz, Ward WITHOUT compomising your elite keepers. Something's gotta give in Vancouver. Luongo or Schneids goes..try to target either.

thanks folks. I might take a run at Quick, the problem being the Quick owner is also the Rinne owner and he wanted Karlsson.

Concerned with Price's win totals for next year but he does play a lot.

My best bet might be to wait until after the draft in the fall.

Thanks all.

Selfish bastard. Quick and Rinne..and he wont budge? How rude! Let him keep the no 2 and no 3 goalies. You keep the no. 1 dman in the league.

Take a stab at Price. He is still elite, stud material if/when the team concepts fall into place.

G'luck! Congrats w/ your win this year.

This! With Markov (hopefully) playing a full season, less coach/GM drama and a more mature PK Subban, expect some regression to the mean (i.e. bounce-back) for Price.

EDIT: The price for Price could be as easy as Halak straight up. Use Kovy/Karlsson/Rads to get a massive upgrade on forward if you can.

Cant get any more massive than the current keepers: AO, Malkin, Tavares.

Stamkos? No way he moves.
