I have the 6th overall pick in our draft coming up this summer. Assume that most of the players available would be 2012 NHL entry draftees. Who would you pick at #5? I would really like to add a center.

Galchenyuk - really like his skills and upside. Also he was born in Milwaukeee and agreed to play for the USA so he doent seem to be a KHL risk at all. His father played professionally in the states and Europe (I believe) and has instilled one some great work ethic in him. One question mark is his injury and if its fully healed? but all accounts seem to say it shouldnt be a worry going forwar. His training and fitness levels are amazing. I think he could be a very good one and should still be available around the 5-6 spot.

I guess it depends on your team needs and what the top 4 teams needs are, but for me if Galenchyuk or Forsberg are there, those would be my targets.

Safe to say Yak and Grigorenko will go 1/2. After that, its tough to say. Fantasy hockey and NHL hockey team needs arent quite the same. If D actually go in your fantasy draft then the 2 I mentioned in the first paragraph should be there. Galenchyuk and Forsberg could go 3/4. If either of them are there, I would grab one of them. I definitely agree with that, but only beyond the top 6. For me, the top 6 is set and won't change based on which team drafts which player. If someone like Trouba, Faksa, or Girgensons goes before any of my top 6, it won't affect their fantasy value (imo) and the order in which I'd select them.

Especially among the forwards. There is a very clear separation between the top 4 forwards in this draft and the rest.

With the dmen, I could not fault anyone for having a hard time ranking Murray, Dumba, Trouba, Rielly, Reinhart, etc. I do feel Murray and Dumba are the first two, but it is definitely closer with them than with the forwards.

you will have a better idea of who will have the best opportunity when you know which players are drafted by what teams. generally speaking galchenyuk or forsberg might be the best available.
