I've got four H2H leagues underway this week.
League 1: Dallas Stars. Dynasty/salary cap: BYE *Very happy to get the #2 seed after a full season of scratching & clawing for every category. Finished 2nd by only a few points. League 2: Queens Mercury. Partial keeper: Finished 4th. vs. 5th *Probably the worst spot to finish. The 5th place team has Crosby, Nicklas Backstrom, and the red-hot Steve Mason & Ilya Bryzgalov. League 3: Captain Cangiroux. One-YearH2H 9/4 cat split: Finished 3rd. vs. 6th *Unfortunate finish to the regular season. I should have had a BYE and the #2 seed. But the team that did finish 2nd ended the regular season by playing against an inactive owner who had Bryzgalov... on the bench... ALL WEEK. Bryz's GAA & SV% would have flipped two categories and I would have had the 2nd place BYE. Stupid inactive owners. Don't be an inactive owner! Anyways, I don't like my chances in this league as my team isn't set up well with only two healthy goalies. But at least I'll be the only team to have smoked the 1st place Juggernaut. That will be my own personal CHAMPIONSHIP WIN in that league. League 4: Zidlicky My Balls. One-YearH2H/ Friends & Family. Finished 1st. vs. 8th *This is a 25moves/year transaction league and the team that finished 8th mismanaged his team and used all 25 transactions. I have 15 left! Should be a walk-in-the-park and my team has Giroux/Neal/Karlsson/Lundqvist. Bring. It. On. Last edited by Pengwin7; 03-19-2012 at 10:45 AM. |

Thrill: 17-1-3 in UHL. It was my first ever dynasty or H2H league ever.
Agony: First round elimination by one goal. Ventings: Not being able to hang a fake UHL championship banner in my new home when I move in. Chest pounding: I get to add one of Yakupov/Grigorenko to my stable of prospects that already includes Scheifele, Holland and Erixon among others. The regular season champion has plenty of reinforcements on the way.

Thanks for sharing Pengwin7, seems like a decent year for your franchises thus far, best of luck along the way.
I think this one covers almost all types at one point for another, so here we go. My story is from last night. With a league that has a Monday-Sunday schedule, I entered the first round of our playoffs with the 1st seed. Having enjoyed all around production from my team throughout the season, I was hoping to win the bulk of my categories with ease. The complementary offensive numbers came thanks to Cooke (thanks Sid) and Landeskog, leading my team over his in G, A, Pts, Hits, +/- and PPP by a good margin. My starting goaltender is Lundqvist, with my backups as Biron and Lindback. With the news of Lundqvist missing Tuesday's and Thursday's games with the flu, I turned to Marty B. Having missed the boat on Tuesday (as I was out of town), Lundqvist was pegged on my team to start - damn, already down a game. Biron posted some solid numbers and more importantly a W (all of which I missed out on). His second game comes around on Thursday and I am sure to start him this time. How am I repaid? A stat line like this; 5GA - 5.00 GAA - 27Sv -.844Sv% and the L. Rough. But there was hope on the horizon as Lundqvist was poised to make the return Saturday against Colorado. His numbers were modest; 2GA - 2.03 GAA - 17Sv -.895 Sv% and the L. There was nothing to do but put Lindback in for Sunday and pray that he starts. A morning check on Left Wing Lock after a rough St. Patrick's day and there it was "confirmed" under Anders Lindback's name. A blessing. Shift forward to 11:10 PM EST. Lindback posted a W allowing 1 GA - 1.00 GAA - 30 Sv -.968 Sv%. My goalie stats are boosted, but still not enough to repair the damage done by the Ranger's tandem. I am losing 7-6 on the week after Lindback's performance, but still down in all five goalie stats. The last game of night (and of our playoff round) is in full swing as the Canes and Jets are tied up 3-3 in the third. The opposing team has Pavelec in net so I sit down to catch the last 7 minutes of the tilly. Never in my life have I cheered so hard for the Canes and so hard against the Jets. With less than two minutes left in the game, Chad LaRose buries one past Pavelec, making my opposing GMs GAA jump from 2.58 to 2.78 as I am still filled with excitement as I sit with a 2.68 GAA. I am now leading the week with a 7-6 advantage. Pavelec is pulled by the Jets, attempting to make a dying seconds tie, but no such luck. The Glengarry Giants slip past the first round all thanks to a late goal by Chad LaRose on Ondrej Pavelec. The IFHL playoffs continue.

As for beating me last week, yeah that was an ass whooping. My team woke up a bit late but I was too far behind to make much of a dent. Who knows, it might just be the tide turning for me in the wrong direction. I hope not, but my team hasn't been as strong lately and I'm a bit worried going into the semis. All will be forgotten with a strong finish though. Would be cool if we both made the final though. If so, we should set up a specific thread about it! That being said, I probably just jinxed it.

Not much needed to win other than luck in H2H. I guess I'm just unlucky in H2H. I won the regular season and had a sick, sick team (Malkin, OV, Letang, Miller, Halak, etc.), by far the best team on paper in a 16-teamer but lost to the #8 seed by 1 in Round 1 (no byes) because Miller gave up a tying goal with 0.7 seconds left. That and my opponent picked up a super rare shutout from Brodeur in the same week.

I'm having an absolutely epic semi-final week. Malkin, Crosby, Keith, Clowe and Ovi all going off so far......7 G, 20 assists, 10 ppp only 2 days into the match-up! Up 10-0 already, and I'd need a monumental collapse to not move onto the finals. I'm a pengins fan for another couple of weeks!
![]() The poor guy who traded Clowe, Keith, Crosby, and Crawford to me for Weber and and Eberle is having a shit fit! Just have to hope my boys leave something in the tank for fantasy finals!

Lost 5-4. The key category was SOG and I only lost by 5 SOG. (142-137) Oh well... if ever there is a time to be happy for the other team, this was it. It was the powerhouse of the league who had only been decimated by bad luck this year (Crosby OUT, Backstrom OUT, Bryzgalov COLD). 2 of those 3 were back at full form for him last week. He deserved to move on. |

Well.......my reign as champion for Team 1 in my sig is over and Im heartbroken. I was looking at picking up Holtby on Saturday during the day but decided to wait until to the games were over that night to see where our matchup stood. Unfortunately, my friends 25th birthday got in the way and I didn't get home until after the moves deadline. So basically I can either blame my loss on the consumption of alcohol, or that the Leafs couldn't just score one damn goal against the Bruins last Monday (he had Thomas and hence a shutout).
