In no way shape or form should Ryan Sproul and Tyson Barrie be a Top 10 prospect over Brodin IMO.

Sproul is tearing it up and scoring a sick amount of goals, he also has an absolute BAZOOKA from the point. Barrie has been a top offensive guy at every level so far. In terms of raw offensive dyamics, Brodin has nothing on Rundblad and look at the struggles Rundblad has faced even with his elite offensive skills. Karlsson can't be a measuring stick for any of these Swedes because his skill level, confidence and intangibles are off the charts sick. I'm not saying Brodin won't end up a great player, but in terms of "fantasy value" I'm nowhere near sold on him. Give me the explosive offensive player any day. Brodin could very well end up the Swedish version of John Moore - great skater but a project who isn't an offensive dynamo. That's just my opinion.

Brodin's game will translate a lot better than Rundblad's as he can actually play in his own end, os a better skater for NA hockey, and doesn't make dumb decisions. His hockey IQ is high. Can quarterback a PP, rush the puck, you name it. Was the best d-man at the WJC IMO. I'd say he has more than modest upside, and it looks like scouts and such would agree. There's no way I'm taking Ryan Sproul over him, or even putting Sproul close to the Top 10, especially given the fact that he is a Wings pick. I'm extremely high on Brodin - but you're welcome to your own opinion.
I just think a ton of people haven't' seem him play and think he can only play defense because a) he wasn't hyped at the draft, b) his low point totals which don't mean anything and c) because he was drafted by Minnesota. Minnesota hasn't had a d-man like this in a long time. Brodin will one day be QB'ing a PP that features Granlund, Coyle, etc. |

I really haven't heard that from scouts. According to all of the scouting reports I've heard/read, the knock on Brodin is his weak shot and lack of raw offensive instincts. He's been heralded as a great, smooth skater with a nice head for the game and the ability to play both ends of the ice. Granted, a player can improve on what the scouts have seen, I just haven't heard any reviews praising his "offense". If you have some reports you can share, I'd be interested in seeing them as Brodin is someone I might consider drafting in one of my keeper leagues.

Brodin kept delivering perfect passes to set-up Zibanejad for some one-timers on the PP at the WJ. Rushed the puck when needed and showed great poise. The fact that Minnesota is lacking in d-man should increase his value long-term. |

Brodin's definitely on my list - haven't placed him yet, but he's there. Tons of upside, coming into a good situation as Ev is alluding to as well.
I have only one or two 'surprises'. Finalizing the list tonight, will be posted Thursday AM. Happy to see so many graduate from last year.

Had a change of heart.
Kept going back to my 2-3 year evaluation window... and I didn't like Brodin as much in the short term over any of the 10 I picked, from a fantasy perspective. Don't see the immediate production, nor the peripherals.
