In a POINTS ONLY league, what kind of impact will Yakupov have? Is he going to be a generational talent (i.e. Crosby, OV, Stamkos, Malkin) or a very good player with 90-95 potential?
Does the fact that he will likely go to Columbus change your perspective, given their history of grooming young talent (or lack thereof)?

Think of Kovalchuk in Atlanta. Althoug he had Heatley and then Hossa, he was often an island there. He still produces a lot. So true talent can shine despite a stacked team around him.

i think he will be a 100 point guy in his prime but i also think columbus could keep him down to 80. i also think nash could of been a 100 point man.

Until the guy shows something you have to be a bit skeptical. It's tough to paint someone as Stamkos or Crosby without having made that transition to the NHL. Within a reasonable fantasy hockey timeframe I would put him in the class of a Patrick Kane (~70-80 points). He has big-time upside but that's more down the road.

I think Dobber and Angus have been saying he's the best prospect since Crosby.
Maybe that'll give you an idea. |

there is now way of knowing how yakupov will turn out, but chances are he is going to be a very very very good player. I personally see him as being just as good as ovechkin or stammer... always thought ovechkin was over-rated and i am a caps fan.... anyways, He is gonna be a very dynamic player and i think 100 is within reach if all goes well for him in columbus or wherever he goes. No doubt he has a ton of talent and a boatload of potential.

That would be Tavares and Stamkos, not Yakupov.

and no he won't be a generational talent as there are not even any generational talents (maybe Crosby) playing in the NHL right now

At the moment, obviously, but Yakupov could potentially be that. That's just what I have read.

I'm not talking about what they're doing at the moment. As prospects, Yakupov wasn't in Tavares' league, and it's arguable whether or not he's better than Stamkos was at the same age.
