I just wish we could get a bit more info on some of these newer characters for the non book reading viewers. I had some people over for the UFC fight tonight and a bunch of them watch Thrones. Half of them are following it good and really enjoying....the other half have no idea who they're referring to when they;re name dropping random peeps every minute.

Anyways....pumped for tomorrow's episode. Which I know for a fact features (SPOILERS) the new Gregor Clegane, the Tickler AND............SHADOW BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait...maybe it just features the Shadow birth......not sure about the other stuff haha.

What happened there at the end? I didn't really get any of it. What was the demon-like thing that came out of her?

Melisandre is a priestess of R'hllor. She can...well, use her abilities to...well, it's hard to explain.
See, there's light, and there's darkness. That thing Melisandre birthed was a dark, demonic looking thing, but it was actually a form of shadow, or shade. See, light births shadows...you can't have shadows without light, and she can use shadows as a tool of hers, against anyone, really, or the foes of the Lord of the Light. At a cost, of course, which will become more visible as the season progresses, I predict.

This scene is probably the first big 'supernatural/fantasy' scene since the opening white walker scene at the start of season 1 and the dragons at the end of season 1.

It's a bit confusing, truly. It's supposed to be a bit mind-boggling :P

But yeah, she birthed a shadow.

Immediately after reading that part I wondered how they would pull it off on the show.......that completely exceeded my expectations. That was awesome.

Fantastic episode!!! I liked that we finally got to see some characters more than once per episode!!!

Thanks for the explanation but it's hard to grasp. I guess because I try to think too in-depth about it like where's its origins, what's its purpose etc... then again I don't know much about that lady to begin with so I don't know her abilities..

I don't exactly want to spoil the process.

It's pretty simple once you know how it works. It's just, I want to see if the show can explain it fully, and I don't want to miss the chance of a new viewer seeing if he can fully grasp it.

It should all be revealed next episode. Hopefully. Or the one after that.

I was also really worried about that scene because it a major fantasy element that hasn't even been touched on during the show. The White Walkers were right away so that wasn't too shocking, and the dragons were talked about throughout the entire first season, so seeing them at the end was just freaking awesome. I was worried that this might turn some of the critics/non book fans off but from my pals that I've talked to it doesn't seem that way.
