Ok, so I am in a 12-team Yahoo H2H League Keep 18 (G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SHP,SOG,FW skater cats)

The league is pretty deep since we are keeping 18 players total, and I'm a bit concerned with my defense corps going forward - most notably Mark Giordano. I'm fine waiting for Bogosian's development, and Visnovsky should be ok for a little while longer, but there are concerns.

My current Keeper Defensemen are:

Karlsson
Visnovsky
Burns
Giordano
Bogosian

I also own Kaberle, Souray, and Jason Garrison (still on my IR)


So here is my question:

Jamie McBain was just dropped in my league and I was wondering if the Dobber community felt he would be a better D-man to keep than any of my current selections.

Also, if anyone has any insight on the keeper situation - and has any other suggestions (as well as accompanying reasons/arguments) for my keeper selections - I always welcome the insight and suggestions.

Its a gamble. I like McBain, but he may take a while. So its out of Karlsson, Visnovsky, Burns, Giordano, Bogosian, McBain, Kaberle, Souray and
Garrison. G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SHP,SOG,FW as the categories. Keep 18.

Karlsson - drop this guy's a bum.
Visnovsky - keep
Burns - keep
Giordano - more value in leagues that have BLKs and HITs. Doubtful keeper.
Bogosian - made strides this year, is still young and has upside - Keep
McBain - did not make strides, is still young and has upside. - Keep
Kaberle - Meh. doubtful keeper
Souray - Bah. doubtful keeper
Garrison - flash in the pan? doubtful keeper.

I like keeping young defencemen who are on the cusp. It happened to me two years in a row with Yandle and then Karlsson this year. Next year it could be Bogo or McBain with the breakout. For that reason I keep them. McBain over Giordano who has limited upside in your league.

So you basically affirmed my gut instincts... I'm thinking I might drop Kaberle, since he has been absolute PUKE lately but I could be convinced otherwise.

I guess Gio is a possible drop, but his multi-cat production has been reasonably solid lately and at least he wont be a -1000 like Kaberle.

As for Souray, multi-cat production and always potential to score.

Garrison is on my IR, otherwise he would probably be the drop. So it pretty much has to come down to Kaberle/Souray/Giordano for who to drop.

Who do you see as being the best drop for me?

I would drop Kaberle fo McBain. McBain may have to get moved elsewhere to really thrive, but he has decent upside. He has flashed that upside, which is good, but he's stil young. Hamonic is useful in leagues with PIM, HITS, BLKS... not so much in leagues with skater cats, so i wouldn't be so keen on adding him.

Seems pretty simple to me bud, drop Kaberle as everyone has mentioned above for McBain. Worry about who you're going to keep later, but for now just make sure that you give yourself the opportunity to pick the better keepers.

Kaberle started out red hot with the Habs but I think he's got something like 4 points in his last 14 games so it's not much of an issue dropping him at all considering his multi-cat production is garbagio to begin with.

Plus McBain seems to be heating up a bit. Could still have a strong finish to the season.
