Hello hockey fans...
I have an abundance of quality D and can only keep two past this season. (Team and stats in sig) I am keeping Yandle, and one of Keith and Goligoski. We are in year two of a limited 5 year keeper league. I am leaning towards keeping Keith and dealing Goligoski for an upgrade at Forward. * I am currently in 4th place making a push for 1st... What do you think? Keith - consistent with outbursts of extra production, or Goli - upside to above and beyond? Thanks.

No brainer for me. If you can get a solid player such as Keith who will always put up good numbers... I would take him.
Goligoski might have a higher updside in production in the future but in all reality, Keith is a plus player, he shoots a lot for a D and produces every year. Go with keith and try and move goligoski if you really want to upgrade...

I actually like Goligoski here. With his new contract, he will be running the show in Dallas for the foreseeable future while I see Keith sharing some pp minutes with Leddy.

Put me in the Keith camp. The guy is only 2 seasons removed from a 69pt campaign. 6 seasons, 4 of which were 82gp, 1 was 81gp and his low total at 77gp. That's IRON MAN material. I don't care how good we think a guy could be. If he doesn't play, it doesn't matter! You know you get more production and GP in a season with Keith. Goli's highest pt total was 37. He should blow by that this year, but DK gets you at least 45, a number Goli has yet to hit. Also keep in mind, last year was the first time Goli played every game in three seasons. There's more question to Goli's game. Duncan is simply in a diffferent tier. Choose Duncan, dude. He puts up more points and is the healthier player. It's actually an eaey choice.

Don't really undestand the upside debate here at all. Keith has posted a 69 point season and I'm willing to bet quite a lot of cash that Goligoski will never top that. Keith is also surrounded by way more offensive talent than Goligoski and that situation isn't changing at all in the foreseeable future. Keith is only 28 years old and just entering his prime as a defenceman.
Keith all the way. |

i would go with goli here. i like keith alot but if you look at pp time for chicago players on a game by game basis this year it's all over the map. sometimes keith gets pp1, sometimes it's leddy and other times it's seabrook, and sometimes anyone of these players will get zero pp time in a game while the others do. it's not the same situation as it was when keith got 69 pts and it's not a favourable situation for any d man on chicago to put up elite numbers. keep in mind keith got 69pts with big buff standing in front of the net screening shots AND keith was playing in a contract year. i think that year was highly unusual for keith and not something that he will ever repeat.
goli is clearly undisputed #1 and will get the lions share of pp time. (benn, ribiero and eriksson are no slouches either.) moving forward i think he will outpoint keith by 5-10 pts on a yearly basis. |
