Default Trade just accepted

I traded away Jack Johnson, and Craig Anderson for Chara. How'd I do?

I think it's a pretty fair deal. To me it just depends on who you are able to pick up with that extra spot but I would say its a pretty good deal for you.

Great trade in my Opinion. Johnson isn't producing very much while Chara is an absolute monster. Plus the Bruins have a few more games to play than the Kings I do believe. You will have Chara/Doughty/Subban/Green when Green comes back so that is good. Unless you have to drop one, then of course Subban is your first choice, at least as of late. Getting rid of Anderson was great too, he has been over-worked and Ottawa is starting to collapse, plus they also have the fewest games to play as well. You now own Boston goalie-wise and have a very able starter in Hiller. Very solid trade.

I dunno tough one... without HITs and BS, I think you might have overpaid a bit for Chara... Chara isn't a big upgrade over Johnson in your settings.

You gain significantly in +/- and PIMs, but I don't know if it's worth the cost of a number 1 goalie in Anderson especially in a 15-team league...

Either way as long as you're happy then doesn't really matter.

You're right about getting Chara with his settings, I didn't look before I posted....however I do still feel he is an upgrade. However what good is a starting goalie if it looks like he will only win a handful of games throughout the remainder of the season? I'm sure when he played, it brought down DCH's GAA and SV%. I might be a little harsh on Anderson, I just cannot really see his value being as high as earlier in the season.

The only thing with this trade is you could be buying low on Chara. He has cooled off for a while but he is heavily involved with the offense and currently Boston isn't playing very well but once they get back on track, I expect Chara's numbers to improve. I do agree you are giving up quite a bit for Chara but like I said, it depends on who you pick up with that extra spot.

If you pick up a goalie like Nabokov then I think its a pretty good deal.

To me it's about +'s and -'s, yes Anderson might not help my team if he's on his roster, but does it hurt him if he's on another team's roster? So he might be worthless to him, but he might be gold for the other team, which might come back to haunt him in a tight ROTO race at the end of the year, so you gotta take a look at the "bigger picture" than to win a small trade now, but lose the war...

Also the thing you have to think about ROTO is that most GAA and SV% stats are pretty set in stone by this time of year. With so many starts already utilized one bad game and the GAA/sv% won't really change all that much...

If you look at the numbers...

Let's say you have a 2.50 GAA at the moment, with 60 GP and your goalies have allowed 150 GA. If they have a bad outing 4 GA, you're GAA would jump to 2.52 GAA, so I mean that's not really a big swing of things, not enough to really change the standings that much anyway.

Same with sv%. Let's say it's at .915 at the moment. At 30 SA/game you'd have 1647 svs over 1800 shots faced... A bad outing of 26/30 would change the current sv% to .914... so once again not a big swing of things.

Now the thing is with 1 goalie spot with max games of 82... the Wins/Svs are going to be the tightest categories... Everyone will reach max, so a win here or a win there is going to be make or break part of the league...

Another thing you need to consider is that Anderson is the best goalie in terms of svs/game averaging 27 saves per game played. So if he goes to a team that owns say Halak or something, he'd be a great complement to help maximize svs.

Goals, Assists, +/-, PIM's, PPP's, SHP's GWG's, W, GAA, SV%, Shutouts

Chara 8 G, 22 A, +24, 57 PIM, 13 PPP, 1 SHP, 0 GWG
Johnson 8 G, 15 A, -9, 18 PIM, 13 PPP, 0 SHP, 4 GWG

So I mean what did he really gain in? maybe assists, PIMs and +/-? Is that worth a cost of a number 1 goalie?

Well my league is a rotiserrie league. I can only play one goalie a night and my goalie games are starting to dwindle. currently I'm predicted even in goalie games played, so I have been wanting to get rid of a goalie, or two. thinking I'm gonna try and unload hiller as well but I do like having an east and a west goalie on my team. I really could use some pluses on my team. I'm not at the bottom, more middle of the pack, in the category and I'm killing it in other categories. I could gain points in +/- tho. Anderson was good there for a bit but you're right saying Ottawa has over played him. I might have overpaid a bit but I figure I have doughty and kopitar still on my team and if LA starts putting up points and Johnson starts flying then I will prob will get some with Kopitar and Doughty. Because those two are miles better then Johnson. There are a couple options on the FA list. I'll post a couple here and see who people think I should pick up.

Here's a couple options on my FA list

JVR, Wisniewski, Berglund, Nielsen, Malone, Greening, Connolly, Robidas, Bogosian, Diaz, Khabibulin, Dubnyk, Garon, Hedberg, Harding, Neuvirth, Bachman, Clemmensen, Brassard, Perreault, Schenn, Hagelin, Samuelsson

There could be others I've overlooked.

How are you with GP for each position?

with 4 C, and 3 for RW and LW and only 2 eligible spots for those positions, it seems to me that you might above the max game pace set for the season...

Post those and I can give you a better suggestion as to who to pick up.
