Hey Dean. Who are your top 5 forwards in the upcoming draft from a pts only fanatsy perspective?

I would hesitantly rank them as follows: (but id love to have your input and what the difference is in upside)

Yakupov
Galchenyuk
Grigorenko
Forsberg
Gaunce

I will make this request the topic for my next Dean's List Series featured on Saturday.

So.....it looks like you will have to wait a few days for my thoughts. I will attempt to do 10 forwards and maybe 5-10 defensemen (fantasy perspective)

Lol Dean, oh why oh why is Faksa flying under your radar... I'm actually thinking he could be the next Skinner (but a bit slower/stronger).

Here's a comparison of their first year OHL stats:

Skinner: 63gp 27g 24a 51pts
Faksa: 44gp 22g 26a 48pts (season ongoing)

I know Skinner really blossomed during his second OHL year, but Faksa is a strong/quick skater with awesome offensive skills and he is showcasing it in his first OHL season. His defensive play is actually not that bad either.

Only time will tell, but I really respect your opinion and I'm looking forward to this weekend's article. Maybe you'll elaborate a bit more on him there

Can't wait to see that Saturday Dean. Thanks!!

The quality from the blue line is interesting this year.

Maybe some teams will try to fill some needs instead of taking the best player available. For example, the Oilers. Will they take a d-man?

The comparison doesn't really hold up though.....Skinner was 16 years old for the entirety of his rookie OHL season, while Faksa began the season at 17 and recently turned 18 in his rookie year. When Skinner was 17 he scored 50 goals and 90 points, and when he was 18 he was winning Rookie of the Year in the NHL.

I really like Faksa too, and maybe there's a chance he sneaks into the top 10, but there's no way he's taken in the top 5 unless one team is absolutely in love with him.

Posted my early Top 10 + 5 HM for 2012 NHL eligible-forwards

I planned on including defensemen as well but it was getting lengthy so I decided to make another article (for later) strictly on defensemen
