Default Rest of the Season: Montoya or Dubnyk?

Who do you see getting the most starts the rest of the way? This is a points league so I don't care about SV% or GAA, I'm really just looking for the goalie that will provide me with the most Saves and Wins.

I keep flip flopping on this decision so I thought I wold see what you guys thought

Thanks!

EDIT: I guess I should mention that Poulin was sent back to the AHL yesterday which would imply that Montoya is ready to return.

Quote:
Kevin Poulin was returned to Bridgeport. As of Monday night the transactions did not list Al Montoya coming off IR from his concussion, but that is the logical inference here.

Dubnyk should get a lot more starts for the rest of the year in Edm. Montoya is a better goalie but he's out indefinitely with a concussion so it's better to not to even take a chance on that right now. If Montoya comes back, he will have to contend with Nabokov and he could also be a vegetable like Hiller and Miller.

I would definitely roll the dice with Dubnyk for this season.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll try to rep all of you.

Out of curiosity, since Dubnyk was the overwhelming choice, what is the main reason why? Are you guys worried about Montoya's health, the prescence of Nabby, or do you just think Dubnyk is the better goalie?

Thanks again for your responses

For me, its a combination of a lot of things. Montoyas health, the presence of Nabby are two of them. Other reasons for Doobie for me is that I like to think the Oilers are possibly going to let Doobie continue to grow towards becoming their future starter. In order to do that, he needs to play. They are drifting out of it again and really have no reason to run with Khabby. They may even be trying to deal Khabby, but thats just rumors floating around. I am sure if they got the right return for him, he would be gone. If that happened, Doobie is the man in the City of Champions at that point.

Khabibulin is falling apart, as I expected. He couldn't sustain those ridiculous numbers over the whole season and he's been awful lately. Now is the time for Dubnyk to show the Oilers that they can trust him as their goaltender of the future until any other prospect pushes him. To be perfectly honest, I don't see Tyler Bunz or Olivier Roy being better than Dubnyk in the future. As the others mentioned, the Islanders goalie situation is something you want to stay away from in fantasy hockey. Nabokov is on a nice little roll of late and seems to be getting more comfortable.

Give me Dubnyk.
