Not sure how this would all work out. I doubt that Holmgren concedes and gives up Couturier. He refused to put him in a package for Weber, so why would he turn around and give him up for Subban?

The Schenn's are seemingly untouchable as the organization is trying to work the whole brother angle.

Hartnell is staying. Simmonds is staying.

Voracek isn't enough. Laughton + wouldn't do it either. Read is a good deal but will be re-signing next year in the 2-3 million scale.

This is the time where keeping JVR would have probably paid off.

I'd think they could probably get Yandle for less than what Subban would cost...

I doubt that.

Subban isn't going anywhere. He will eventually sign.

The Montreal Canadiens are sticking with their two-year/$5.1 million offer to restricted free agent P.K. Subban.
That's the same deal that they presented to him in May. By contrast, it's believed that Subban wants a deal that's more in line with Jamie Benn's recently signed five-year/$26.25 million contract. With a gap that big, Montreal might actually end up trading Subban.

You got that right about Couturier. As a Flyers follower I've been feeling some concern over the teams depth. There really isn't much in the system so the current roster players are far from expendable and trading to fill a hole on defence would just wind up creating a huge loss among the forwards. Unless Briere and a few picks could get it done but that just seems unlikely...

I've been thinking about that lately myself. Yandle probably would be easier to acquire and would be the puck mover the team needs. But like any Subban trade dilemma I doubt the Flyers could do it without creating a significant hole in the roster elsewhere. Unless Briere and a few picks could get it done but that just seems unlikely... again.
