This is bad news for sure, but long-term this won't affect him. I guess it could possibly affect his draft stock, but even then, missing one or two months shouldn't dissuade teams who had him ranked high before from still taking him first overall. The only thing this really affects is Sarnia. Their GM just pulled off quite a few deals in the hopes of making a strong playoff push. That is obviously severely derailed if Yakupov is out for an extended period of time.

they will keep him off of it until they are sure. I have never torn a knee ligament, but have had a total of 7 sprains (and bad tendinitis because of it) between my 2 knees. Every time they put him in an immobilizer and told me to keep off my feet until they were sure.

I have a few friends that have sprained their knee and torn ligiments in their knee and they have told me that it feels about the same for the first week or so. After that the sprain feels like it is healing and the tear just never feels like it is getting better.

A sprain can still mean 2-6 weeks out (i think the fastest i ever got back into football shape was 2 weeks for a hs playoff game, and in wrestling i missed about half of the 10th grade season with a sprain). It also leads to other knee problems (like the tendinitis that i have now, and the eventual need for a replacement eventually... but i stopped playing organized sports after HS so that reduced the strain that yakupov will never have until he retires)

That means instead of crosby upside we can put him in the malkin upside.
