I've been hesitant to use any mods until Bethesda come out with the actual SDK (soon, apparently) just because I know that some mods (not the so common ones) have been known to crap the game out because they modify the game files themselves from my understanding.

Another thing making me skeptical of mods is Skyrim's attachment to Steam. Lots of people have automatic patching through that DRM and that means if Bethesda pathes often, there's no point in making or getting mods until they stop because every patch would likely bring compatibility issues.

I loved mods in Oblivion, I'm hoping I'll like them as much in Skyrim, I'm just not too sure how well they'll work.

I've been enjoying the game vanilla as it is and as mentioned - it's attachment to steam makes me hisitant to use anything until the actual SDK comes up.

School starts in two days... I'll have to shelve Skyrim for a while.

I got the console version so no mods for me...not sure how it is on the PC but the most aggravating gameplay thing for me is what a pain in the ass it is to equip stuff. They have a dumb 'favorites' menu you can add stuff to that's better than nothing but it still makes you choose everything individually. What they should let you do is define 'weapon sets' and then just choose a set you want to equip and have it equip everything... so for example, my character would probably do something like this:

fighting/stealth:

-dual daggers
-dragonscale armor
-muffled boots
-backstab gauntlets
-health + stamina based jewelry

ranged:

-enchanted glass bow
-dragonscale armor
-muffled boots
-cowl of archery
-archery based jewelry

smithing:

-full fortify smithing armor set
-fortify smithing jewelry

The number keys can be used for setting objects you use all the time. Very handy. It's also smart enough to re-equip a sword and shield if you switch to a bow then back again.

The hardest thing about pc is resisting the console commands. I usually give myself a skeleton key. Nothing I hate more than not being able to open a door.

The only console command I've used was to revive Lydia when she died I don't know quite how far since my last save (and I don't know how). Although being an archer I probably shot her by mistake. When it happened I usually re=set to my last save, but that time I just didn't want to...

Theo nly pieces I usually switch are my helm (from my +35% bow damage Cowl to a price modifying helm for shopping) and I think I also have another price changing piece.

Right now I have the Ancient Shrowded Cowl, then the other 3 pieces of the Nightingdale set. I then have a dagger + shield in favorites along with a few shouts and my Bow (Ebony Bow that I found as random loot doing that thieves guild quest that gives you that kick ass bow by the end of it - the Ebony Bow hits for more. The other one has an enchant that would have it catch up, but I already had enough perks in overdraw to make up for the difference).

This game is blowing my mind.

I took about a two week break until last night....finally actually upgrading myself instead of just wandering aimlessly throughout the world. Thought I had done a lot of that but I probably haven;t been to half of the world.

Like a buddy came over last night and we took turns doing missions and such. There were so many that I wanted to do and thought sounded awesome but then we`d come across something else and I just lost track of whatever I was doing or wanted to do.
