With the season nearly a wash for me, I'm starting to position myself to roster the strongest 14 keepers I can. I'm interested in John Carlson, especially with Green due back tonight. But not 100% sure Green's presence helps or hinders Carlson.

Do you think Carlson can be an upgrade on either of my current 4 Defensive Keepers?

I prefer him over EJ and Kuli.

Ditto... ESPECIALLY EJ who's horrible.

And to answer your question, the return of Green definitely hurts Carlson in the short-term. He probably won't see any meaningful PP time unless Wideman starts blowing chunks.

I will not comment on whether I may have kept EJ over Carlson this past summer.

However, I WILL say that I'd much rather have Carlson than EJ right now and for down the road.

I also think you take Carlson over Kulikov...but Kulikov is certainly in the top-four of that list.

Carlson has a chance to be the best player on this list. If not 1st then 2nd behind Doughty long-term. There isn't much the kid can't do.

for
1 - My White, E. Johnson and my 6th round pick
or
2 - My Hamhuis, E. Johson and my 5th round pick

Given the feedback provided, I'm willing to even drop the draft picks...but he's in 4th place...80 points out of the money. White is a solution now for him to gain a few extra points (he also has Chara and Lidstrom leading the way this year).

We'll see.
