Hey everyone,
I am looking to the waiver wire once again to fill the spot of a d-man. Right now I'm only rolling with three since Mike #$%*#@# Green is still on the IR . Are there any guys on my wire (primarily d-men but forwards too) that you would advice me to pick up? I hate to say this, but I'm looking to part with Thomas Vanek. He hasn't done much lately and in multi-cat leagues doesn't tickle my fancy. Should he be the one to go? Here is the short list of WW points leaders (Fwd and D): Chris Phillips (hits) Jan Hjeda (hits) Tim Gleason (hits) Bryan Allen (hits) Robyn Regher (hits) Brian Boyle Pascal Dupuis Michael Ryder Anton Volchenkov (hits) Nicklas Grossman (hits) Niklas Hjalmarsson (leads the league in blocked shots, good number of hits too) Emelin (hits) Lydma (hits) Subban (dropped him earlier since he wasn't doing much on either end of the ice) Hits guys mainly have their points from their physical play, not superb offensive skill.

Ryder is on a 5 games goal scoring streak, 6 game points streak. from what ive seen, hes a product of his linemates (benn/eriksson/riberio?)
and theres Subban. I dont own him in any of my leagues but he should be a worthy pick up, no? |

I agree with kluu. After being a healty scratch on Saturday, Subban returned and played a strong game yesterday. Hopefully he turns his season around. Also, the PIMs are always good with him. I'd give him a shot.

Karlsson is pretty much a one trick pony in your league - I wonder about packaging him and Vanek for a guy like Perry and then picking up Subban.

I agree with Shoeless! I was thinking of just trading Vanek for someone instead of dropping him but packaging him with a 2 for 1 and then picking up Subban is a good move too

Shoeless, I already have Corey Perry. My problem is getting good value for a package of Vanek and Karlsson. In my league, that overvalues hits/blk shots/pims, It'd be hard to get someone to trade for him. Yes Karlsson's scoring is nice, but other than that, he doesn't do much. Vanek is the same way.
This year's totals: Vanek= 160 (15th for his position) Karlsson= 132 (good for 69th in my league amongst d-men) See my problem?

The key to winning in your league is realizing non-physical player's value is drastically reduced and selling high on their name to other owners who may see this.
Packaging Vanek and Karlsson for a lesser name who gets blocked shots/hits and picking up Subban or hjalmarsson would be a good play.

I have a pending proposal (I sent it) of Kessel, Vanek, Hiller for Giroux and Kronwall. It looks like it might be too much for Giroux is a multi-cat guy and the owner has Lou/Schneider as his goalies so he needs an upgrade.
