Yeah, early on for me it was a can't miss beer. I could drink it anytime and it was good, but now I just don't really care for it. It's a shame, because I used to really like it.

I did hear the Werewolf Red was good. I want to try that next time it comes out.

I liked the Warewolf. Had it in Vegas during the UFHP draft. They were promoting it so they handed out a Newcastle class to go with it. Can't go wrong there!

It's funny you should mention that. When I found that link for Dub I noticed this as well....

I don't know where in PA you are but if your travels take you near Philly you might be in luck.

While I'm at it I'll post the other lists for those who are interested.....

I guess that's exactly why Sam Adams didn't blow me away - it's not exactly easy to find around here. It's not something you can find in every beer store in Edmonton.

So when I go "out of my way" I expect it to be above average. If it was something widely available here I could certainly see it as a possible mainstay.

Hard to believe, but I guess we're a bit spoiled out this way. Sam Adams Lager is one of the few American craft brews we can get out here at almost all liqour stores and good beer and wines. It's certainly not one I'd 'go out of the way for though'. But, it's certainly well up the rankings ahead of all the Macros like Bud, Coors, Labatt etc.

NowayOut....I'm thinking you must be from somewhere near KC?

I saw an episode of "Drinking Made Easy" last night and they were in KC. Did a couple of things at Boulevard Beer. Showed a number of their best selling brews....an unfiltered Wheat, I saw that Stout you so crave, and the Pilsener which is the only thing I've tried from them. It'd be nice to get more of their stuff out this way....the show mentioned they're the 8th largest Craft Brewery in the States.

Yep I do live nearby to KC, Topeka to be exact, about 65 miles west of there. Closer if you count KCK and the suburbs on the Kansas side of state line.

Guess I need to get out from under my rock more often as I wasn't aware of this show. Certainly will be adding it to the DVR queue. I'm trying to hunt up a clip of the Boulevard segment. Their Dark Truth Stout is a great beer and one of my favorites, but for some reason I've been in a slump recently and have had no luck finding it. Stores are sold out everytime I go looking. As long as they have my Bully Porter it's all good though.

Since this area is a major wheat producing region all breweries hereabouts have a wheat beer as one of their flagship beers or as a top seller at the very least. That said I haven't tried their Unfiltered Wheat but I will keep it in mind the next time I go stock up.

"Drinking Made easy" is a classic....HDNET....a mainstay on the DVR. I believe they're in Season 2. It's not all craft beer, lots of bars, places to go, silly challenges, and ridiculous amounts of drinking. Fun show....find it.

Friday Night boys......anybody drinking anything exciting? I wish I were going down to Wash/Oregon soon...wouldn't mind trying this:

Widmer Rotator IPA #4: Spiced IPA

Congrats to Paul (IIPA Brewer) and Chris (stawn)

"WIDMER BROTHERS BREWING UNVEILS FOURTH BREW IN ROTATOR IPA SERIES: SPICED IPA
Brewed in Collaboration with San Diego Homebrew Club

PORTLAND, Ore. – Jan. 19, 2012 – Widmer Brothers Brewing introduces the next release in its Rotator IPA Series and the brewery’s first nationally-released collaboration brew, Spiced IPA. Originating from a recipe created by Paul Sangster and developed with Chris Stawney of San Diego’s Quality Ale and Fermentation Fraternity (QUAFF), an award-winning San Diego Homebrew Club, Spiced IPA offers an intriguing twist on the West Coast’s favorite beer style. Blending familiar flavors with unexpected ingredients, this hop-forward yet balanced IPA carries notes of black tea and spices that come together, much like the brewers behind it, to create one amazing brew. Spiced IPA is a nationwide release available in limited quantities on draught and in six and 12-packs at select retailers.

“From the very first sip, we were impressed by Spiced IPA,” said Joe Casey, Widmer Brothers brewmaster. “In many ways, Paul Sangster’s recipe embodies what Widmer Brothers beers are all about: unique interpretations of classic beer styles. This was a fantastic project to be a part of, and we look forward to continuing to brew more collaboration beers with homebrewers in the future.”

Spiced IPA is the fourth beer of the Rotator IPA Series which features a new, limited-run IPA every few months. “The idea for this beer came from trying to integrate the interesting variety of spice flavors of chai tea with the fruity flavors of a West Coast style IPA,” said Sangster. “As Chris and I tested the recipe, we focused on trying to achieve a good balance between the citrusy and pine-like hop aromas and flavors we love in American IPAs with the herbal and spicy tea notes to give a more complex and full palate flavor sensation. We are really pleased with the way it turned out and are thrilled to be brewing it with Widmer Brothers.”

“We started homebrewing in the early 80’s, and have been part of the local homebrew community in Portland ever since. Throughout the years, we’ve released several collaboration beers locally through our partnership with the Oregon Brew Crew and are excited to release this collaboration beer with QUAFF,” said Rob Widmer, co-founder of Widmer Brothers Brewing. “Spiced IPA is a great example of the innovative recipes that homebrewers are out there brewing today. We really enjoyed brewing this beer and hope others will like it, too.”

About Spiced IPA
In the spirit of collaboration, Widmer Brothers Brewing teamed up with QUAFF to brew Spiced IPA, a beer that offers an intriguing twist on the West Coast’s favorite style. The spices used in this beer include Malty Assam Black Tea, Ginger, Cinnamon, Clove, Star Anise, Black Pepper, and Cardamom.

Trying out a new beer tonight from Hoppin' Frog. This one is called Bodacious Black and Tan. This is my first taste of a B&T so I don't have a frame of reference but I like this one. Starts off with a bit of hoppiness then you get a bit of licorice taste followed by a typical stout coffee/chocolate finish. It really reminds of their BORIS Stout which leads me to believe that one is likely the black half. Not sure which one they used for the tan half but a good beer overall.

It ranks as the top B&T on BA....

What ya'll drinking tonight......
