Speaking of (mostly) good beer:

http://fest-of-ale.bc.ca/

My buddy and I just bought tickets. I've been almost every year for the past 10 years. It's fun. Some decent local craft brew and lots of good entertainment and food. Plus, it's a weekend roadie with the boys away in Penticton. Good times!

Had another restock run today. Heavy on the Avery and Ommegang, though there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Avery-
Hog Heaven
The Reverend
Maharaja
Salvation
New World

Ommegang
Art of Darkness
Abbey Ale

Left Hand
Black Jack
Wake Up Dead

Ska Nefarious Ten Pin
North Coast Pranqster
He'Brew Genesis Dry Hopped Session Ale
Tall Grass Velvet Rooster
Big Sky Cowboy Coffee
Saranac Caramel Porter
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
Konig Ludwig Weissbier

And to top all that off the new addition to my beer runs a bottle of good Scotch or Irish Whiskey. This time around a bottle of Redbreast 12 year old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.

Nice! Let me know how that whiskey is. I have no single malts at the moment. Would love to have one w/a prime NY strip smothered in portabellas.

Hungry...

Enjoying some Hennepins. Always a nice fall back.

I don't have much experience with Whiskeys but I'll take a shot at describing it. I'll pick from the notes from those reviews on that whiskey exchange link that best describe it. The flavor is complex, very complex, spice cake, liquorice, honey, with a peppery note. That's the bit I can put my finger on, there's so much more to the flavor that I can't quite pin down.

The aroma, whoa, strangely it's the abiding memory I have of this one. As it warms in the glass, the vanilla aroma is absolutely enthralling. I had a long pause between the second and third sips because I just wanted inhale and savor that smell.

It's only the fourth Irish whiskey I've tried, but it outshines that Clontarf 1014 I had back at Christmas, and soundly thrashes Jameson and Bushmills. It's pricey, that 12-year-old Single Pot was $53. They had the 15 right next to it, and that bad boy fetches $90.

Just finally sitting down to relax with a beer and some hockey. Hawks and Flames seems about right to match up with this local Pilsner:

What's everyone else drinking tonight?

Just getting ready to crack open a can of Velvet Rooster....

Had these earlier....

Going to a lot more than that though. Have Smith and Fowler in a dynasty league with all my backup D either on IR themselves or back in the minors. #aintthatjustducky

Another new beer about to hit the market from Boulevard....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61eJu...ature=youtu.be

Grainstorm is going to be a winter seasonal, no word exactly, but given the timing I'd say Feb-Apr.
