Finally popped the cork on this one, was going to do it a couple weeks ago but passed. Not as disappointing as the Thirteenth Hour Stout, also from Sam Adams, but still a little under-whelming. I didn't notice it being that sweet, but then it could have been blunted some by the choice of food I had with it. The alcohol punch is a little higher than most tripels, usually they clock in around 9%, and as you said very sneaky, which is typical for tripels.

In the end it wasn't horrible, just didn't like it as much as I have some others, Velvet Rooster, Long Strange Tripel, and Tripel Karmeliet in particular.

Good to know about the New World Tripel. I'm still looking forward to it.

I just had Lagunita's Pils: Czech style Pilsner. I loved it. I love pilsners from when I lived in Germany for a little bit. They have so much more flavor than most lagers do and they're still light. This was a good one folks.

I had 2 cases, aka 12 beer. Down to 8 now I think. Probably drink 2 of them over the course of the next 6 months or so and not planning on touching the other 6-pack until 2014.

Finishing off the last of my Dogfish Head Chicory Stouts...I will miss thee.

Tomorrow I will hit up the merchant, and purchase for consumption my very first IPA. I know, I know, many of you are thinking "...next he's tell us he decided to breath oxygen."

But it's true never had an IPA, and I think it will pair well with my chicken/feta sausage tomorrow. Thinking a 90 min IPA....what say you??

My view is don't start with Dogfish Head for IPAs. They are not typical... considerably more malty than most.

If you like really malty and want to ease in, I guess that's a decent way to go.

Bell's Two-Hearted is a good introduction.

Or hell, just dive in and go Pliny the Elder.
