There are other outlets to explore, so all is not lost. Apparently some feud betwixt NY state and PA distributors is preventing availability.

But enough pish-pash-poosh...on to the good stuff!

Westmalle Trappist Ale (Dubbel)
Stone Smoked Porter
Founders Porter
Rochefort #10
...and the aforementioned Theobroma round out today's purchase.

On my way out the door, I spied a Dogfish Head seasonal, Chicory Stout. Had I seen this on the way into the store, I would now be drinking it. I am intrigued, to say the least. Any feedback would be most appreciated.
Curious whether you got around to one of the other stores yet to find those other porters. If not when you find one that has Samuel Smith's look for their Organic Chocolate Stout as well, it's also made with Theobroma cocoa. Since you love that Dogfish Head Theobroma I think you'll quite enjoy that one as well.

That Organic Chocolate was the best chocolate beer I've ever tried. And the chocolate aroma coming out of the bottle when you pop it open is positively intoxicating. Had me salivating before I even poured it into the glass.

Well lads, I have an American IPA almost ready to be tasted. It'll be carbed this weekend. I have finished brewing another IPA this weekend. Used a shit load of hops. When all is said and done, I will have put more than 9 ounces of hops in a 6 gallon batch of beer. Hop madness! For you brewing nerds, I used chinook, cascade and centennial hops. Its a northwest tribute beer!

So this past Saturday, I managed to enjoy the Westmalle Trappist Ale (Dubbel)
- awesome, better than expected and will definitely be buying this one again. My experience with dubbels is limited but this was the best thus far.

..and the Founders Porter - my experience with porters is even less than dubbels, but this was good and tip of the hat to NWO for the rec. I def enjoyed it and wished I had purchased a sixer instead of the singular bottle.

Looking to dive in to the Stone Smoked, and I will definitely be purchasing a sixer of the Dogfish Head Chicory Stout.

Keep you posted...

So, the world didn't end. I had a pint at midnight last night. It was a good pint.

Hops on Pops IPA: it tastes young and still hasn't fully cleared or carbonated, but the breadth of hops is just awesome. Not just the typical citrus/pine sledgehammer... nice, balanced beer with really heavy fruit and earth notes but loads of fresh aromas and even bitterness to carry it through. Copper colour is as I'd hoped.

As this mellows, it's going to get good with another couple months in the bottle.

Top-shelf homebrew FTW!

What are y'all drinking to celebrate the world not ending?

Looks good HPG!

I am currently enjoying a Dogfish Head Chicory Stout. Picked up on my way home this eve, among others such as Westmalle Tripel, Ommegang Three Philosophers, and a Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout.

The chhicory stout is very, very good. It's a seasonal, so if it's available grab it. I grabbed a four pack, and will be grabbing more four packs. Absolutely love the chicory. If you love strong coffee and stouts, this is the beer for ya.

If the Westmalle Tripel is half as good as the Dubbel I had last week, I'll be happy.

Three Phil's I have had before, and decided it was time to reacquaint myself.

Looking forward to my first Lagunitas.

I hate winter. I despise it, I loathe it. Thanks to that blizzard the other day, our normal delivery schedule got disrupted. I just got a call and it's off to work I go tonight. Damn! No beer for me tonight. If only they had sent two trailers north with me last night that would have left only six to go tonight and the other three drivers could have handled it themselves. On the other hand it's time and a half for every minute I'm on the clock, not that I'm going to be in clock-milker mode on a Friday night. Loads of beer money for moving loads of food.

Bomm, I haven't tried that Cappucino Stout, it's high on the list, but I have tried several other Lagunitas beers. If this is your first exposure to Lagunitas, period, I think you'll be impressed. Their high on my list of favorite brewers.

By the way what did you think of the Stone Smoked Porter?

Did not yet have it, ashamed to say. I was dying to have the chicory. I'll be having the Stone Smoked tonight or tomorrow during the Falcons/Lions game.

Dude, gimme a grill food to pair with it...please.

I'm trying to remember what I had to eat with it. I've only had it twice, but can't for the life of me remember what with. I'm pretty sure bbq on one occasion. Off the top of my head I'd say pretty much any meat will work, even smoked meats. If it's grill food, I'd say brats or even burgers, just dress 'em up a bit with something other than just plain american/cheddar cheese and ketchup/mustard. Maybe gouda or something like that and say wasabi. Let your imagination run wild, get creative.

And with that I have to get ready for work. Catch you guys tomorrow.

Thanks, brother, you're the best. Was thinking bbq. like the brat idea, and the gouda too. Such an under appreciated chez.
