Well kids, I'm on the last day of this cleanse, so tomorrow, right after I get home from hockey practice, I'll be giving a few of these a go...can't wait:

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/73287
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3760/86830

And, just visted Central City's Brewery and picked up a fresh growler of their IPA:

I'm back! And I've got a loaded fridge to take me into the end of the world.

Good old Red Racer IPA...

Just picked up this one in a flight of pure whimsy:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/492/79696

Gingerbread Ale... because.

Not bad, but not worth any fuss either (as in I would never buy it again).

Sipping on a newly purchased Theobroma as I type this, Mmmmmmmmm......so good.

Went to my Hertel Ave merchant, with NWO's list in hand. Out of the eight porters recommended by my dear pub pal, they had only two [sniff-sniff]. But fear NOT!! There are other outlets to explore, so all is not lost. Apparently some feud betwixt NY state and PA distributors is preventing availability.

But enough pish-pash-poosh...on to the good stuff!

Westmalle Trappist Ale (Dubbel)
Stone Smoked Porter
Founders Porter
Rochefort #10
...and the aforementioned Theobroma round out today's purchase.

On my way out the door, I spied a Dogfish Head seasonal, Chicory Stout. Had I seen this on the way into the store, I would now be drinking it. I am intrigued, to say the least. Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Trying some more new ones tonight. Started off with these two...

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/193/615
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/132/43969

I wasn't blown away by either one, but the AV Stout did grow on me as I went along. I'll give it another go down the road, but given the ratings on BA I was a bit disappointed. Tasted kinda watered down and weak even by oatmeal stout standards. I may have gotten an older bottle, that's why I'll give it another go in the future. It wasn't horrible just a little lacking for me.

The Rogue Yellow Snow was good but a far cry from Deschutes Inversion or Firestone Union Jack. It's probably unfair to compare it to such amazing beers as those two, but I couldn't help it and it came up short. I'd still recommend it, but if I was giving advice as to which to buy I'd suggest the other two first.

Not sure which ones are up next, likely these....

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16333/54413
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/140/6549

and one or the other of these two....

I'm surprised they didn't have the Samuel Smith's or Fuller's London, but hopefully your next stop will bear fruit....or porter as the case may be. The two you did get are excellent so your taste buds are in good hands.

Now as for that Chicory Stout....damn it Dogfish you need to bring your beer to the vast hinterlands. My current favorite morning cup 'o Joe is from New Orleans and a company called Community Coffee. It's an Arabica and Chicory blend that will open the sleepiest of eyes. Delicious to boot, but I do find that chicory is an acquired taste for most people. Though those who are into stouts and porters will likely have acquired that particular taste. I highly recommend that coffee fwiw.

Thanks for the tip on the coffee, big fan of both Arabica and Chicory (not to mention peanut butter and chocolate )

I will check out that site.

I've long been a coffee lover, but since I phased sodas out of my diet I've picked up my coffee consumption. Nothing overboard, but then again I can't afford to go overboard as my taste in coffee has undergone a radical change for higher end coffee.

Just like I threw off the yoke of the mass-produced fizzy yellow pisswater called mainstream beer, I've also moved beyond being content with just Maxwell House or Folgers coffee. When it comes to coffee I'm far, far less knowledgeable about that than I am with beer, but learning quickly. That Community brand was one I discovered a couple of years ago and until recently was my only foray outside the grocery store brands.

Now.....about your mentioning chocolate and peanut butter.....you dirty, filthy, bleep bleep bleep, !@#$,!!!!! Now I have an overwhelming craving for Reese's mini peanut butter cups. Ah man I can sit down and eat my weight in those damn things.....well off to the store with me.....and then the emergency room when my blood sugar goes off the effing chart.

Well...back on the beer train. I had the Chasin' Freshies IPA by Deschutes. I enjoyed it as it was my first brew in 2 weeks, but it drank way more like a very hoppy, bitter Pilsner.

The Mill St IPA was hideous...yuck...malty, boozy...yuck.

The wife and I shared a SteamWorks Raspberry Frambozen. It was pink, tart and boozy. I'm glad we shared the 22 oz as I wouldn't have been able to drink the whole bomber myself.

Enjoy the w/e fellas!

I lived in a Maya village for a while, and when I went back to visit last year they were generally laughing about this as about the most ridiculous thing they had ever heard.
