Nice to see this thread still has some legs...well done boys!

I've turned down the beer consumption slightly. Gotta try hard to avoid the weeknight brews (except after hockey of course) especially since I'm back to work. teaching kids at 8am after a few the night before is not fun.....so, I'll try to stick with just a few quality ones on the weekends.

Let me know how that BORIS (isn't it a super high ABV%?) was....I've read lots of good stuff on Beer Advocate.

Keep this thread rollin' boys......

Well, bought some Creemore tonight and cracked one open.

Smooth and crisp. Great simple beer.

Yep nothing fancy about Creemore just good beer with good natural ingredients and its usually pretty fresh too as they brew it in small batches and deliver it on a regualr basis to vendors.

I'm drinking the RedHook ESB from Seattle. It's pretty good. I do like ESBs though so that's a plus. There's nothing amazing about it, but the aftertaste is pretty pleasant.

PS I'm very impressed by how long this thread is lasting.

Diving into a sixer of Great Lakes' Burning River (out of Cleveland, OH), Friend brought it over for one of the holiday parties, and I thought I'd give it a shot.

Not bad (bias note: not a huge micro-brew kinda guy), tasty, light, not too fruity. You're standard pale ale, as it were.

6% ABV, so it's got a little kick to it which is never a bad thing.

Tried the Hoegaarden, Rogue Dead Guy, and the BORIS Imperial Stout.

I'll say this Dyz the Hoegaarden isn't bad but I think it's shaping up as a "summer romance" for me. I'll gladly finish this 6 pack but that will probably be the last one I buy. Didn't really blow me away.

The Rogue is an excellent beer and will see more turns in the rotation going forward.

The BORIS....damnnnnnn that is a good one. First off this is the variety I'm drinking....

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14879/47695

It's really smooth and fairly mild on the hoppiness for an Imperial Stout. Clocks in with an IBU of 60 which from what I can find is towards the low end for this style. First thing I noticed was the hops followed quickly by a hint of bourbon from the barrel it was aged in. That's followed by a bittersweet chocolate and coffee flavor and a return of the bourbon. The bourbon flavor never overpowers and for having a 9.4% ABV the alcohol taste is well hidden. This bad boy could seriously eff you up since you don't taste that alcohol and may forget just how much kick it has.

The only things holding this back from being in the go to rotation is price and lack of availability here in 6 packs. All I can find here is bombers and this one was I believe $7.50 or thereabouts. If I could get it in 6 packs for around $15~18 I would slip it in every 2nd or 3rd time through the rotation.

All in all I'd recommend it to everybody, and especially for people who love the malty, chocolate flavor but are turned off by the aggressive hoppiness that you get from stouts. This stuff is phenomenal.....

Like I said not for everyone. I'd never want to drink it all the time but love a few every once in a while.

Really digging the Creemore Springs.

Hoegaarden, to me, is a beer I could see myself having with a specific meal, in the hot summer months. Very light, crisp, earthy....paired with a pan seared trout, and an endive or spinach salad w/goat cheese or feta. I could see that happening

Not a beer I would have just for the sake of havin' it...if ya dig.

A word of caution about that BORIS stout. It's never a good idea to drink any alcohol on an empty stomach but that one is really diabolical. I had that one about 4 hours after dinner and this morning my gut is all flip-floppy. It's an absolutely phenomenal beer but if you don't have an iron constitution be sure to drink it on a full stomach to help with the richness of it.

Just putting that out there as a cautionary tale. By all means try this beer you'll love it.
