There's the regular beer geek breakfast and then there's beer geek breakfast weasel.

The weasel was $13 for a 300ml bottle so I opted for the regular (which was still $7)

Oh my! After a very full day of getting shit done, I am sitting on my ass with Guinness in hand. Gonna grill some bbq chicken wings this eve and wash 'em back with a Duvel Rustica.

So for those paying attention to Operation: Hop Trot. Elvis has left the building. All goes well and our bud dyz will be enjoying a Theobroma in approx ten days.

Dyz will also receive a complimentary box of rigatoni - an unexpected but necessary additon to mask th sloshing sound of the beer. Packaging-wise everything went better than expected. I even found a foam mold that with a little carving encased the bottle nicely and a "gift" box of glass laterns that fit the bottle as well.

Luckily I had saved some very heavy corugated card board that was used in the packaging of my plasma tv. Great shit that stuff. Reinforced the shipping box.

All in all a great time doing it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Trying out one of the new beers here. Grand Teton Bitch Creek Extra Special Brown. Pretty tasty if I do say so, though not the best brown ale I've ever had. Those honors go to Samuel Smith's Nut Brown ale and He'Brew Messiah, in that order.

The nose really comes over with a biscuit-y smell, teamed with a nutmeg and dark fruit aroma. Not really much of hop character to it, but what is there is earthy tasty. That flies in the face of the reviews I read, but that's how it comes across to me anyway.

Really pick up the malt and it's sweetness, but it's not overpowering and goes well with that earthy hop. Has just enough carbonation to give the perfect zip. It's one I'd certainly have again.

Sooooo....

Friday when I am at the beer merchant, I spy This. Dude, told me it was $200 and 40% ABV. I said for a Sam Adams, it better SMD when I'm done drinking it.

But then I spied something more my speed. Turns out Ommegang has a 15th anniversary edition. The dude checking me out said he bought one, but that he's saving it for one year, prior to opening. Said his girl friend hid it on him

I said "Guess you won't be breaking up w/her anytime soon"

He didn't laugh.

I did.

You were looking for recommendations on porters Bomm, well I can give you another one, Founders Porter. On a par with the best of the best in that style. Seeing as how it is widely available in your area, I highly recommend grabbing a 6-pack.

Bomm...did you end up going the FedEx route? If so, can you take a bit of time and list the sort of step by step process? Final cost?

No I went USPS Priority. Do your labels online saves time and having to explain anything tothe guy behind the desk. One bottle was $23 to ship.

Definitely do a box-in-box. If you can find the "gift" box (ie, the box the nottle goes into) find one that has glass on the box. Lanterns, mugs, glassware whatever. That way you can list what's ever on the box on your customs sheet. That way should they open the shiping outer box they'll see it matches up with the custs page.

Foam. Find foam and line your shipping box with it. And you have to mask the sound of the fluid. No amount of foam will do. So during this holiday season especially it is not uncommon to ship "imported" pasta.

Pasta is a great gift and listing it on your customs lable won't arose any suspiscion.

Wow! Thanks! Still, quite the ordeal and very expensive for one bottle. Dyz will have to let us all know when he gets it and how it tastes.
