My 'in-Canada' beer shipping theory rests on using Greyhound. Just put a box on the bus and have someone collect it at the other end. If you are really shifty I think this can be done sans payment.

Estimates say it is only $30 to ship 24 cans of beer from Victoria to Edmonton... not terrible (though to be fair I have no idea if they object to beer shipping).

Well I'm gonna test it with dyz, and see how it goes. Won't be able to get to it this weekend cuz I am w/out my truck (being repaired - special thanks to the jackass who side swiped me and took off).

Gonna research a little, and plan it for next weekend.

Had an early dinner at Old Chicago. Crossed three more beers off the list as well. First up was a Killians Irish Red, not bad, but certainly nothing special. Sort of the price you pay to take on their World Beer Tour challenge. Lots of great craft beers, some middle of the road mass produced beers, and some total shit beers. The Killians falls in that middle of the road group.

Now as for the other two, Blvd Collaboration #3-Stingo and Abita Purple Haze, those go in the first category. Both were very good, with the Collaboration #3 really standing out. That one is a joint effort between Blvd and Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project. Here's a good short review that I think really nails this beer down. If you see it grab it now while you can. Blvd's Collaboration beers are one shot deals, one batch and that's all.

Abita Purple Haze is a very good raspberry wheat beer if your into that. It's more of summer style, but it still works even now, as we move into the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. It scores better with the Alstrom Bros on BA then it does with the rank and file. I do find that the things I like and dislike about most beers matches closely to what Jason Astrom posts, so I do give extra credence to his reviews for what it's worth.

Now is Maudite.
Missed this post earlier. Since the lovely and gracious Lady Bastic is fixing Jambalaya I'd suggest some of the Abita brews. They're brewed in Abita Springs, Louisiana, which is in the heart of Cajun country, and from personal experience they marry quite well with Cajun cuisine. Their Jockamo IPA is a solid beer and goes well with spicy foods.

I looked it up on their site, using zip code 14201, there are 21 locations that have their brews, including one I believe you mentioned before, Blue Monk.

And for the record I'm a major Cajun food junkie. Calling your better half the lovely and gracious is a blatant ploy, but also sincere compliment, to curry favor should I ever find myself in your neck of the woods. I figure that ought to be good for at least one helping of Jambalaya, or...dare to dream, even some Crawfish Etouffee or Sauce Piquant.

Trip to the beer store is always fun!

Dr Hops World Pale Ale
Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA
Ballast Point Big Eye IPA
Green Flash Hop Red Head
Rother Brau Pils - only 2.50 so I bought 2.

Never tried any if them but keen as mustard to start.

You got it, brother! Stop on by...

The Lady loves her seafood and crawfish is def on that list. Back in my bartending years, a regular asked my to bartend his private 4th of July party. His house was huge (old family, oil money).

Anyway...long story short....from a restaurant down in New Orleans he overn nighted lord only knows how much cajun crawfish. After cashing me out at the end of the night, guess who got the leftovers???

Yeah, so the next day I invite some of the boys over and between them, me and Mrs. Bastic we must have consumed 5lbs of crawfish.

Ahhhh....good memories right there....

Killians is cheap middle of the road. It's just slight above garbage, but its acceptable when it's free. It just doesn't do anything well or badly.
