3rtpaper - My new favorite is also a White IPA. Was shooting for that with this years fresh hop batch but it didnt turn out white like I wanted. Never tried to brew that style yet and got the recipe wrong I guess. Still tastes great though. I used homegrown Chinook and Northern Brewer and added some Citra and lemongrass. Gotta try that Post Road Pumpkin too, I think we have it on tap at work right now.

RE: the black IPAs... if Deschutes Hop in the Dark is available in your area, I highly recommend it. Great time of year for beers like that too.

I just brewed my Pumpkin Ale last week and I can't wait for it to be done. I brewed it last year and I finally had a pumpkin beer that tasted similiar to what I brew (although i will say mine is better.. but I'm a home brewer of course I'm going to say that) Post Road Pumpkin Ale... Very good the right mix of Pumpkin/Spice and beer.. I would highly recommend it if you like pumpkin beers (it still taste like beer). Also I just brewed my new favorite style of beer (at least for now it seems to switch monthly) a White IPA which is spiced like a wit beer but hopped like a lower IBU IPA. I used all Glacier hops (home grown actually) and its fantastic (although I would use some citra to go with the glacier hops next time).

On my tap system i currently have a 2x IPA, Dunkelweissen, Scottish Wee Heavy, and my White IPA. Sadly the pumpkin is getting close to being fully fermented and I don't have any more taps.. I guess i need to start drinking faster

Enjoyed the Spinnakers... different but I enjoyed the different. Might not get into the Phillips tonight though.

I had a black IPA last week for the first time. I must say that I quite enjoyed it. Its a style that I may investigate a bit.

When I get home today I will take a picture of what mine looks like and post it. I can't say I've ever tried anything with lemon grass in it (that I know of) so I don't really know what that does to a beer, it sounds interesting though. I like black IPA's as well sadly I haven't been able to brew one and Deschutes doesn't make its way out to Pittsburgh so I wont be able to get one.

About a week ago I got Lancaster Brewing Co. Winter Warmer before people in Lancaster even got it (special release from the brewer).. and it is very good I would recommend it to anyone who can get a hold of it and like the style.

Tonight I'm brewing a breakfast stout.. first time I've ever tried making a stout it just makes me sad that I won't taste it until January at the earliest..

Question: are any of the people on this thread from around Pittsburgh?

I'll be making a Cascadian Dark Ale (ie what people on the West Coast call an India Black Ale or Black IPA) this weekend. The plan is to focus mostly on Chinook and Cascade to offset dark and coffee malts (don't want to go with chocolate because that doesn't fit with the citrus flavours of the hops in my view) but depending on what other goodies are available at the homebrew store it might look a little different.

Love CDAs in the winter -- what an awesome style.

So I got the dry rub on my baby backs, gonna light the coals in about an hour. Just chillin' with some Stella's. Didn't have enough time to hit the store. Had some issues with my whacker - weed whacker that is.

Picked up a 4-pack of Tallgrass Oasis Dry Hopped Imperial ESB. Comes in a great looking can, had to try it. Also snagged one of my old favorites: Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale.

Hop Zombie has been sold out here for a couple months. The next batch is not supposed to be released until Feb 2013 at the earliest. I was in the local beer shop and the guy asked me if he could help. I replied that I was just a bit distraught that all of the Hop Zombie was gone. We talked for about 10 minutes and he told me about some other beers. Turns out he is the manager of the place and was quite a nice guy. Anyways, as I was leaving, he mentions that they are gonna have Hop Zombie back on the shelves soon. I asked him if he meant soon as in next year. he said that they held back a few cases of it. He was planning to do a promotion and sell it at a really good price. It is normally $12 for a 500ml, so I wonder what his "really good proce" will be. Apparently, the general public wont find out until the flyer goes out on the morning of the 29th.

Well, guess who will be at that beer store come Monday morning, ahead of everyone else with a fistful of twenties looking to stock up again.

Sometimes, life is good. I only have one left, I may drink it this weekend safe in the knowledge that stocks will be replenished early next week.
