Here's a little vid from the Unibroue website that explains the story behind this beer....

http://www.unibroue.com/en/beers/18/serve
It's also a song by some of Canada's favourite sons, The Tragically Hip (and IMO one of their best songs) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B6ZLM7yK8c

Likely no relevance to the name of the beer though!

Cheers.

The odds on favourite for a Hip song getting mentioned on a hockey site would have to go to this song though.

Default breakfast beers!

Founders Breakfast Stout is a good one, but Surly Coffee Bender is #1 in my book.

If you don't have access to those I'd recommend a drink we serve at my bar, the Wake-up Beer, Guinness with a splash of cold press coffee.

I sincerely hope that every beer drinker out there has a beer that gives them the following feeling.... whatever the style of beer it may be.

Sight: crystal clear, golden beauty.
Smell: Fragrant bursts of hops.
Mouthfeel: silky, but effervescent. Smooth, not too thin, not to thick.
Taste: The most pleasant hop punch in the face ever.... Hints of pine, grapefruit, different tastes swirling around as you swish it around your mouth hoping that it lasts forever. You cannot resist the urge to swallow anymore than you can resist the urge to breathe. The perfect balance of malt and hops.
Finish: crisp, clean, beautiful.

Hop Zombie is a beer of the highest order and is without question, my favorite beer of all time.... ever. It is the drinking beer equivalent of screwing a supermodel.

The fact you have access to Three Floyds and I don't makes my taste buds angry. However, thre fresh Hop pale ale I just sampled from Seattle is getting rave reviews, and in fact, many are claiming it's about as close you can get to Zombie Dust without heading to the US midwest.

Jealous though.

AW is from New Zealand so I'm pretty sure the beer he's referring to is this one from Epic Brewing in Auckland....

Still jealous though even if it isn't Three Floyds.

For Western Canadians:

24 Craft European beers ( specially made - not otherwise available ) in an actual Advent Calendar. Saw them at my good beer store today. Merry Christmas...

http://blog.thenibble.com/2011/11/12...-of-christmas/

the one i saw though, was all beer... and it was linked to the beer advocate website. it said each day a beer was released, the the beer advocate website would be putting up a page that detailed the brewer and their special beer contributed to the advent package...

edit: here it is:

Oops! My bad. I was referring to Zombie Dust brewed by 3 Floyds. I've only had Alpha King by FFF and it was delicious. Not sure I'll be able to find Hop Zombie anytime soon either.

I do love this time of year though...fresh hop ales abound...tlak about something to be thankful for. Only other thing we could hope for is an end to the lockout.

Just enjoying an Inversion IPA to get the festivities rolling a bit early.

Enjoy fellas!
