St. Louis Placed on IR By Bolts: Martin St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to December 9, according to a report by Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.

With the fractures suffered he may be out weeks, but knowing Martin St. Louis, he will be back out there sooner than anyone would imagine. The move to IR makes sense with Brett Connolly also being released to play in the World Juniors.

has there been any reports that would suggest MSL wont return this season? i was just offered a deal in which the other party suggested such. is this merely a ploy to get him on the cheap or what? i suppose it is plausible however i find it highly unlikely. the deal would be awful for right now, but long term it would be a good move....MSL for Landeskog.

found this tid bit of good news:

St. Louis suffered a broken nose and a bruised left eye when he was struck in the face by a puck shot in practice by teammate Dominic Moore. St. Louis, who had played 499 consecutive games before the accident, says he doesn’t expect to have any permanent damage and his vision is slowly coming back. But he still cannot wear contacts and he won’t be able to work out until the blood drains from his eye.

St. Louis has already missed four games and there’s only an outside chance he will be able to face the Canadiens on Dec. 29. When he does return, St. Louis will wear a cage and then switch to a visor.
