STUDS
Jet Fuelled Evander Kane and Bryan Little sparked the Jets to a 4-2 victory over the Devils. Kane had two goals, five shots, two hits, and was a plus-3. Meanwhile Little had two assists, was also a plus-3, and went 11 for 17 in the faceoff circle. Moulson’s Island Moulson, Parenteau, and Tavares have something going in Long Island. Moulson notched four goals on seven shots in a 5-4 victory over the Stars. P.A. Parenteau and John Tavares helped the cause by each assisting on three of Moulson’s tallies. Marian Hossa Hossa took over the game in St. Louis and led the Blackhawks to a win over their division rivals. Hossa scored both shorthanded and on the power play, as well as registering eight shots on goal. Honourable Mention Johnny Boychuk – Had a goal, three shots, two hits, two blocks, and was a plus-3. Matt Read – Had a three point night and two of which came on the power play. Olli Jokinen – Two goals, four PIM, and seven shots Jarome Iginla – Notched three assists, two shots, and two blocks Tomas Fleischmann - Three points (two via the power play) and added nine shots DUDS Anders Lindback On a rare night off for Pekka Rinne, the Predators had a spirited effort that went to waste. Nashville outshot Buffalo 34-14, but Lindback gave up three goals and registered his third straight loss. Joffrey Lupul Lupul has been playing some great hockey to start the season, but he struggled in the Leafs loss tonight. He was a minus-3 and failed to record a single shot. It was the second consecutive game he was minus-3, as he posted that stat line against the Bruins earlier in the week as well. Devil Made Him Do It Despite breaking out of a four game pointless streak, Patrik Elias had a rough night. The Devils left-winger was a minus-4 and went just 5 for 16 in the faceoff dot. Dishonourable Mention Mike Smith – Pulled after giving up four goals on 17 shots in the first period. Oilers Power Play – Went 0-6 on the night in a 5-3 loss to the Flames. Andrew Raycroft – Gave up 5 goals on just 22 shots in a loss to the Islanders. |
