So I took a little heat for the last edition of The Wire when I suggested poolies drop Brandon Dubinsky. I didn't mind it all because at least people were reading my article and generating some debate. The reasoning behind it was obviously Dubinsky's early season struggles, as at the time I wrote the piece he had failed to score a goal. He currently sits at one goal and one power play point so there are a lot of better options out there. The other reason would have been that Dubinsky has only once eclipsed the 50 point mark in his career, and only twice scored 20 goals or more. So it's not like he should be considered undroppable in one year non-keeper leagues if there are other options available.
Worth a Look Johnny Boychuk D BOS The Bruins are playing great hockey right now and Boychuk could be a nice add to imporve your defensive depth. Currently just eight percent owned in Yahoo leagues, Boychuk is a plus-6 and riding a two game point streak. He is also second on the team with 22 blocks, third on the team with 35 hits, and has posted 35 shots on goal as well. Tuomo Ruutu C,LW CAR Ruutu has three goals in his last two games and is a plus-4 over that span. Two of his seven goals this season have come on the power play, and he is listed as only 17 percent owned. He plays a physical style as is evident by his team leading 42 hits, and he has also 12 PIM. The interesting thing about him is his versatility as you can use him at either the center or left wing positions. Jhonas Enroth G BUF This one is a no brainer. Enroth has been playing outstanding with a 6-0-0 record to go along with a 1.76 GAA and a .972 save percentage. In fact he has only ever lost three games in his NHL career so far. With the injury to Ryan Miller expect Enroth to carry the load for a while so scoop him while you can. Still available in about half of Yahoo leagues. Jakub Voracek RW PHI Voracek has posted 12 points thus far and that is only going to improve playing on a deep Flyers squad. Three of those points have come on the power play and he is averaging over three mintues of pwer play time per game. He has also registered 32 shots and is just 31 percent owned. Drop 'EM Kyle Okposo RW NYI Has yet to score this season and is a minus-7 on the year. He has fallen way down the Islanders depth chart and reportedly will be a healthy scratch tonight for the first time in his career. It's dissapointing as some other young stars have flourished in Long Island, but Okposo has yet to break through. Ville Leino C, LW BUF One of the major free agent dissapointments, it may be time to part with Leino. He has only tallied four points so far this year and is a minus-4. Most troubling of all is he has only registered 14 shots on goal in 17 games. |
