Full team keeper and Carlson was dropped?? Weird.
I would rather have John Carlson in a keeper, Fowler in a 1 year.

I would rather have Fowler in one year and keeper. It's close though, but Fowler just has much more opportunity. Carlson is in Green and Wideman's shadows.

I have both but I think Fowler is better right now AND long term. Not by a TON but I would probably deal Carlson before I dealt Fowler for whatever that is worth.
Both are in great spots to contribute on offensive machines. Carlson is just a bit more crowded right now.

Fowler and i actually dont think its that close. Fowlers offensive skill set and oportunity trump what Carlson brings to the table.
I see Carlson as the Toews of dmen. Would love to build a real team around him, fantasy, not so much.

Yup, this is on point...Carlson is predominantly a defensive-defenseman with decent offensive tools and neither gonna be the top option short term in WSH (Green/Wideman) or longer term (Orlov). Fowler is pure gold both skill-wise and environment-wise both from a "utilization security" standpoint and with three 80+ options in Getzlaf-Perry-Ryan up front to rack up high quality numbers. Fowler and it's not even close.

In an either or scenario I'd rather have Fowler.
Since you did say this is a full keeper, why not look into the possibility of having both. Identify your bubble players, both on offense and D, and see who might be expendable. Then ask yourself whether your team is a legit contender this season or is your team looking to the future for contention. If I had a team that was contender, I might not make a move to add him, unless doing so wouldn't upset the structure of my team and weaken it. If your building for the future then making a move to pick up Carlson may pay off. If nothing else he could be a piece that you could package for a bigger upgrade or could remain on your roster and add to the foundation of your team. |

It's when Fowler gets a -4 that is most disconcerting. Maybe I'll pick him up again when he shows the first sign of putting up some points.

You have Kyle Quincy and Dan Girardi, take my word for it Fowler is definitely roster worthy to put it mildly as the Ducks have simply sucked out of the gate just like they have the last 3 years and counting. Foolish to take a guy like Kyle Quincey over Cam Fowler when he's getting top PP time on one of the most high-end units in the league and is 10x better skill-wise. Cream always rises to the top.

I agree with the talent level around Fowler. But he is hardly roster worthy right now in a one-year league. Maybe I'll drop Girardi for him in the morning. Quincey has been too consistent to drop. Kronwall seems to be picking things up a bit.
