Default The Province Canucks blogging contest - please read

http://blogs.theprovince.com/2011/10...tition-begins/

For the month of November, I will be competing in hopes of becoming one of the replacements for the Kurtenbloggers in Vancouver. The contest will feature 15 participants. I have three scheduled days to write content, as well as each weekend.

My “days” to write are Monday Oct 31, Weds Nov 9, and Fri Nov 18. The weekends are free for alls (the site will upload content from each writer).

1) I'd love the support. Twitter, on the posts, on the website, etc.

2) I'd love your ideas. I get so many of my writing ideas from the community. Interesting/funny/undiscovered angles about the Canucks (or the NHL at large). Fire them my way: angus at dobberhockey.com

3) This won't affect my 15 Points to Consider or ramblings at all on the site here, fear not!

Hey angus,

Just a couple of ideas....What about a spin-off of your '15 points to consider' on the Sedins. For example a light-hearted look at 15 ways to tell a Sedin twin apart. Or just an article on like different brother combos in the NHL including the Sedins. Just my 2 cents. Good luck buddy.

I have a few posts coming tomorrow.

I'd really appreciate the support of the DobberHockey community.

Always enjoy your writing Angus, and hope you receive tons of support for the competition.

For some reason I couldn't post a comment on your 15 things to consider (maybe there is a time limit to comment and I missed the boat? Maybe I'm a technological dolt and can't figure out how to hit the post button?), but wanted to throw out there:

I really like the idea of short overtimes with 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, then 2 on 2, maybe even 1 on 1 more than the shootout. I think there'd be some interesting coaching strategy involved in juggling personnel, and some exciting stick handling and passing, and it involves a few more players from each team. In my opinion it would be more like "real hockey" than the shootout also, although of course that's not empirically provable and maybe not important anyway.

Another way to include more of the whole team and a wider variety of skills would be making the shoutout, instead of three rounds of breakaways, one round 3 on 2, one round 2 on 1, then 1 round 1 on none (breakaway). To allow backwards movement of the puck the multiple skater rounds could be based on time, say 5-10 seconds That way a great defensive play or slick pass can be just as crucial to a win as a nice deke, shot, or save. If 3 on 2 in 10 seconds is too tough (i.e. not "exciting" enough) that round could be 3 on 1 instead.
