Another quiet Sunday in the NHL with just one game between the Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues.
Studs 3) It Makes No Difference to Steen I'm not sure what you call scoring a meaningless goal late in the third period of a game that you ultimately lose but for poolies it's nothing short of a gift (or a punch in the ovaries if your opponent owned Steen). Steen's line of one goal, plus-one, with four SOG, was highly productive considering his team lost 4-2. 2) The Glorious Return of the Ducks Offense Three games into the season the high power Ducks had scored a total of three goals. Tonight they more than doubled that total with four goals, including two from... 1) Bobby Ryan Ryan's stat line was as follows two goals, one assist, plus-two, with five SOG. That's some roto deliciousness, which hopefully put some of you over the top in your H2H matchups this week! Duds 3) I'm Crying Fowl Seriously Fowler? Over five minutes of power play ice time and you give us nothing, not even a shot on goal. Worse yet you go minus-one. Tonight sir, you disgust me. 2) La Femme Nikita As though his name wasn't foul enough (so foul in fact I won't spell the whole thing out), he went and scorched your plus/minus going a miserable minus-three and through up a goose egg in points despite receiving 4:10 on the power play, tops for Blues defensemen. How does La Femme get the most power play time on a team with Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo? This is an outrage. The fact that he did post two PIM and two SOG is completely negated by his absurd number of power play minutes. 1) Halaking Up Goals Can we just pencil Halak into the dud section on nights when the Blues play? Seriously, he's been awful this season, destroying the goaltending categories of poolies round the world. Maybe he's not solely to blame, after all the Blues did give La Femme Nikita over four F@#!*&^ minutes of power play time but this is a guy many drafted as a borderline top ten goalie. We expect at least average stats instead he's looking like St. Louis' answer to the question; how can we make Brian Elliott look good? We all know how Ottawa answered that question. So please, please, please Mr. Halak, turn it around before I start making comparisons to the infamous Pascal.

LOL! Hilarious S&D's md.
****ing Halak...need this guy to get his act together. Not only for the sake of my own team but for the teams of all the other people that I've been saying he was going to have a good year to. |

And the Blues! Nothing worse than having a team that always appears to be about to "break out" and make the playoffs, etc., only to be foiled by one thing after another.

Man this early season is making me happy my draft strategy didn't work as planned. I had my eye on Halak but he went one spot in front of me, I scrambled and took Kari Lehtonen instead. I'd say that's worked out pretty well for me so far.

Love this series GM!
I was one of those owners slightly burned by Steen last night - I traded him to a division opponent this year in a deal with Kaberle to get Moulson and a draft pick upgrade, Steen was a complete throw-in as he was a dropper for me. But I knew I wasn't giving up nothing there. He's a solid all-around player and leader who will get good TOI and PPTO! and is an all-around contributor (especially SOG and including BS). So not surprising that he gave me some heartburn last night. Solid fantasy contributor. Be patient with Halak boys, he is going to bounce back strong. He's an extremely reliable and competitive goalie playing behind a nicely developing D corps, he'll be ultra-valuable again from a fantasy perspective very soon. I agree with Shoeless, GREAT time to trade for him now!

On a related note, how is Anaheim 3-1 when their top guns have started out so slowly? It bodes well for this team going forward.

My trio of Getz, Perry, Selanne finally got on the board! They've got some catching up to do.
