Default Taormina....what to do?

Hey everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the hockey season thus far!

I am currently facing a "dilemma" of sorts with Taormina. My team has some good dmen prospects (marincin, barrie, beaulieau). This is a 14 team dynasty league, with deep rosters (30 players, of which seven are the farm).

Am having to start Taormina, and having a hell of a time trading him. (close many times...sigh).

I am intrigued with this Ekholm kid....maybe drop Taormina for him?

Thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated!

I'd drop him. There has GOT to be someone better and Ekholm might be worth the flyer.

Leaf,

Here's the thing - you have the long-term covered nicely with Barrie, Marincin and Beaulieau. I think you should maybe consider dropping Taormina for a more proven commodity right now if they're available - I don't consider Ekholm proven.

Are there more proven options out there? Can you toss a couple of names out?

Hey Fungchen,

Thanks for the insight.

Yah, the waiver heap is razor thin unfortunately. The only dman of "consideration" are Ballard, Daley, Kampher, Kubina (blech), etc, etc. Guys of that ilk.

Was why I was debating Ekholm, since at least he is playing.

Maybe you have some names, that i have missed.

Drop him.

Larsson renders him obsolete.

Agree with Fungchen here. Nashville is just to deep at D. I don't see him getting a lot minute's or any PP time. Is David Savard, available might be a better option or Nick Leddy maybe.

So I thought I'd try to re-ignite this post as a couple of things have happened which seem to give a glimmer of hope about Taormina. First, NJ didn't sign Stralman and now there's news NYR have offered him a contract - so that's one other offensive-minded dman out of the picture. Second, based on stats alone (I haven't seen any of his Albany games), Taormina seems to have gotten going and how has 4 points in 8 games. So maybe he's now putting up some numbers he'll be more likely to get a call up.

I dropped him a few weeks ago, but my d is pretty thin so was thinking of picking him back up (maybe at the expense of dropping a guy like Nodl or Lander).

Anyone have any new insight about Taormina?

Total silence...

I checked out capgeek today which indicates that he only has 3 points in AHL games. I could have sworn that yesterday he had 4 points - he's going the wrong way!

Grab Daley I'd say if you need some sort of consistent production, even if it is just 25pts.
