thanks!

This is bang on for me.

I agree with everyone else who ranked Phaneuf first, Shattenkirk second and Johnson last.

Shattenkirk was enticing but he's unproven and he isn't the man in St Louis. Phaneuf is the man in Toronto and he will get a ton of ice time in all circumstances.

People like to point out his point regression but his game has developed a lot since the Calgary trade. It really was a turning point and one he listened too. First came learning the defensive game, then came learning how to be the captain. His leg injury sort of slowed him putting it all together but around January he starter getting his mojo back and was laying hits. At the time I was saying that the hits were the start. They were. It lead to him getting his confidence for offense back and as his leg healed he just became better and better. Since January he's been a big time impact player on the Leafs. He's going to get you more goals than Shattenkirk is and that alone makes him more valuable, as dyz said. He's also pure gold in a multi cat league.

He does it all.

The notion that Shattenkirk has Pietrangelo "in front" of him is silly. He has him BESIDE HIM on the Powerplay! Would you rather he has Jeff Finger feeding him the puck with the man advantage? Shattenkirk will collect waaaay more PPP with Pietrangelo there.

However I change my mind. I did not read that goals were worth 2 points, in which case I take Phaneuf. But Shattenkirk isn't far behind.
