Was at the game last night. Got invited to the Social Media Suite night put on by the Canucks - great to see the team try and get us non-main stream media involved with the team. Lots of teams do this, but usually it is to generate more buzz and info about the team (definitely a problem the Canucks do not face).
Got to put some faces to names, and met my fellow writers over at the Canucks Army (my home this season for Canucks news, I'll be writing there a few times each week). On to the game: - Luongo looked very sharp. He's a notorious slow starter and it is preseason, but he looked on his game. Without Kesler, Canucks will need him to step up. - Hodgson was great in the first, faded a bit later on in the game, but was one of the better forwards overall. - Nugent-Hopkins showed quickness and vision, but he isn't ready yet. I hope the Oilers don't keep him past nine games. - Samuelsson and Sturm both looked rusty. - Burrows/Sedins were very good - a bit rusty but they were moving the puck very well. - As of now, Edler/Samuelsson on PP1, and Salo/Bieksa/Tanev/Hamhuis/Ballard all saw a bit of time on PP2. - Hall is incredibly fast, but I think Magnus Paajarvi may be even faster. He was the best Oiler forward by far. - Without Whitney, the Oilers are going to struggle moving the puck. Sutton-Barker-Petry-Gilbert-Peckham-Potter is not an NHL calibre defensive group.

I thought RNH looked better than expected in both ends of the ice.
I don't see a better line-mate for Hall then RNH, and might as well have them playing together as soon as possible. Horcoff was useless, Defense is pretty bad. I think they will keep RNH, as he's better than half the roster already. Hall is too reckless. How many times did he get flattened, bumped, or lose an edge. This will affect his longevity, sad to say as I have him in keeper league. Edler won't get suspended for the hit (in my opinion). Hall changed his head location just prior to the hit. But Edler was definitely trying to lay him out, so he could get a couple games just teach him. my 2 cents on the game

It is great to hear about Paajarvi's speed, I really enjoy his style of play and think he will be a mainstay on the highlight reel before it is all said and done.
