I'm trying to bolster penalty minutes from the back end. I like Theo Peckham but I'm just curious if the Oilers have prospects they will try to get into games at the expense of Theo Peckham as a healthy scratch.
This scenario I mention could very well happen with Carkner as the Sens have Kuba, Rundblad and Cowen. Thanks Oilers faithful.

Not likely. He's one of the better defensive d-men for the oilers.
Petry and chorney will be competing for icetime but given the injuries I'm sure they'll find it. |

I'd be shocked if he doesn't play at least 75. The guys steady-eddy. Not flashy but will drop the mitts block a shot do whatever, whenever no matter the score. They do have some decent d prospects but none are ready for big minutes. Except maybe Teubert but he got dummied up in a scrap 2 weeks ago and hasn't skated since. I like Peckham to be the 4,5,6. Guy.

I bleed Oiler blue so here's my take on this....
I wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself on the top pairing with Whitney. The Oilers defense depth is terrible on the professional level and Peckham is the steadiest and meanist the Oilers blueline has to offer. This guy will suit up for every game he is healthy for. Gilbert and Smid should make up the second pairing (I can't see the Oilers going with Smid-Peckham pairing, no natural puck mover there) with Sutton and Barker rounding it out. The only competition going on with Oilers blueline is for the 6-7 spot with Chorney going against Petry which Petry has the edge. PIM's, hits, and blocked shots are going to be huge from this guy this year. Scoring, not so much. 15 points would be a high end projection. Barker is the wild card in all of this and is the only threat I see to Peckham's TOI.

I don't know much about Peckham either... I hope he sticks. If his job is in any doubt though - here's another guy I like: Clayton Stoner, MIN. Minnesota is really big on this guy. He's considered a lock for their top 5 defensemen. He had 96PIM in 57games. That would be 138PIM in 82game season. As soon as I picked him up I watched a couple games, he's very sturdy and Minnesota isn't deep on D, which makes it unlikely that he'll sit very many games. Options: 1. Peckham 2. Stoner 3. Carkner |

Since Dobbernation screwed up so badly on the Peckham prediction I now turn to Penguin fans.
Will Engelland play all 82 games this year or is he going to be scratched for other defensemen within the system? Thanks ![]() Updated: I see that Michalek broke his finger and will be out for 4-6 weeks. I guess that makes room for both Engelland and Lovejoy provided the Penguins don't go ice cold.
