There a number of quality prospect defencemen available in my keeper (team in sig). Defense is obviously a strength for me and I intend to keep it that way. I have broken down the available players according to Upside

Are there any players that jump out at you in that you think they belong in a higher or lower bracket?

The guys I have an eye on are obviously the top grouping as I hope Rundblad will make it to me 14th overall (which I somewhat doubt).

Overall the players I would like to see on my team include: Marincin, Shultz, Faulk, Barrie, Orlov (if I can have him behind Green and Carlson I would have Wsh D locked up) and Blacker.

I think Braun and Postma could be slotted in a bit higher.

Any thoughts on the order? Please note that the players are generally in order of team name in each group, not my ranking.

In for a penny - I don't mind my guide being quoted, or a few guys thrown up with my predictions...but I really didn't feel comfortable with such an extensive list. I don't like editing people's posts and can count on one hand how often I've done it. But I had to remove the 3YP/Upside for every player you listed, plus I removed the final grouping. Sorry, but you had like 30 key prospect defensemen and everything I thought of them in terms of upside and probable

If it were two or three, then sure, but...just too much for my comfort level. Very sorry!

Yeah, those were the tops I was thinking of too. Though I have gone back and forth on Faulk too.

I tend to think of Barrie as higher (maybe its just the Victoria BC conection)

I like Barrie too but there are a lot of quality prospects on that list and he fits right in there with guys like Savard, Voynov, Merrill and Brodie. Petry and Spurgeon don't even compare to the rest.

DM, this is a real good list. The only difference is - I would absolutely 100% have Larsson and Hamilton in the "long-term" elite category. My six-pack would be:

1. Rundblad
2. Larsson
3. Murphy
4. Hamilton
5. Orlov
6. Schultz

Let's not forget, Adam Larsson is a phenomenal D package. He will be the undisputed #1 anchor on the Devils blueline. I see him ending up no less than Shea Weber production when he hits his prime (his shot is lethal like Shea's).

When it comes to these prospects, Larsson and Hamilton have as much offensive upside as any (outside of Rundblad and Murphy) and they are more "sure things" considering their great size and all-around game.

Maybe I'm guzzling too much of the Larsson kool-aid, but when I look at him I see a "can't miss" star in the near future and think NJ is the PERFECT situation for him to shine. Rundblad/Larsson are 1/2 on my list for sure.
