I am intrigued by Rundblad but have not seen him play. I am wondering if anyone who has seen him play live cares to share a scouting report on him?

No responses, maybe no one has seen Rundblad play live
![]() The reason I ask is because a few years back I got to watch Heatley play live and it definitely changed my perception of him, I would love to hear some comments on Rundblad from someone who has watched him... I have watched video of him online but most of what you see is highlight videos.

He's supposed to be a top of the line player with dynamic offensive skills, comparable to Karlsson I guess. A safe bet in any case as far as fantasy goes.

Here's a good link to Ottawa's take on Rundblad.

Karlsson is too much instinct for my taste. Rundblad is so much more intelligent in his decision making.

The thing is that Karlsson will probably have flashier highlights because he plays a more extravagant game. He's also a bit quicker with the first few strides. I bet you Karlsson will have more fans because of that and therefore higher fantasy trade value. But if I had to pick one of them for my own team, I'd want Rundblad even though Karlsson will probably put up better offensive numbers the next couple of years. Well, except for plus/minus. Rundblad is more like a bigger Enstrom, just playing smart with good positioning, although he has pretty good speed to burn as well. I also think Rundblad will start using his size more on the smaller rink, although his brain will always be his best strength.
Both are obviously excellent hockey players and fantasy options.

From having watched them both, Karlsson is more dynamic and will be the better player numbers-wise IMO. One of Karlsson's biggest strengths is his intelligence and decision making on offense. I don't see Rundblad ever eclipsing Karlsson on offense, as Karlsson is more dynamic, is one of the best skating d-men out there, and has a sick slapper. But I couldn't care less myself who will be the better player, I will enjoy watching them both.
![]() When I watched Rundblad he is most comparable to Green in terms of skillsets. They both have good but not elite skating, both like to rush from end to end, and both have an elite wrist shot. Also, they both aren't the greatest defenders because they turn it over in their own end and make some clumsy decisions sometimes, but they are decent defenders. Other comparables would be Enstrom and Subban. So in short, Rundblad is a guy who loves to go end-to-end, makes great passes, will draw people to him and create lanes for other players, and possesses a slick wrister as opposed to a slapper. His downside is his defense but that shouldn't be a glaring issue in the NHL. The turnovers and his tendency to overthink things in his own end should improve -when people talk about his defensive shortcomings, it's more of a result of him trying to create offense. Also, I should say that Rundblad's value is probably higher than it should be right now, and it doesn't help when you have Dobber giving him an upside of 75 points in the NHL. He still is one of the best fantasy D prospect in the game. It pained me to trade him in my keeper league a couple of days ago...oh well.

Why did you trade him?
