God, this makes me hate ESPN. Only time that the Jays make front page of this website, it is because they're accused of this stupid crap. Read the article and you'll understand.
http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/...-rogers-centre Nobody is confirming this in the MLB. They're saying that a fan in white would put up his hands on an offspeed pitch, and nothing when it was a fastball. Anyway, I feel this is all bullshit, and the article and "evidence" looks as if it was written by an intern. What are your thoughts?

Just something else I read, JP Arencibia posted 3 tweets about the allegations:

I can't believe they devoted that many words to the story.
Even if they are, what's the big deal? This is a league that openly allowed steroid use for close to 20+ years. Like the article (and comissioner) stated, sign stealing has been around for over 100 years. If suspicious its happening, throw down multiple signs, or change the indicating sign. As a long-time ball player, and catcher I can definitely say it isn't the first, nor is it the last time that signs will be stolen in the big leagues.

Hahaha, this is absolutely absurd.
I wish the "pitchers in the bullpen" would have the stones to come out and say it themselves instead of spreading shit through the media. The fact that they're just whispering into reporters' ears is just hilarious. JP's tweets are just too good, the Jays can't hit diddly squat in terms of average and they're stealing signs? Yeah right. He brings up the Verlander no-hitter which is a brilliant point, I think I remember the Jays getting no-hit another time at home in the last couple of years. Unless they think that the Jays are letting themselves get no-hit on purpose in order to keep with the facade #tinhats |

Totally agree! Even IF this is true, it's by far the least of this league's problems. The mentioned drug issues, corked bats and lousy random umpire calls are all factors that play with a game's outcome a hell of a lot more than a fan standing up and raising his hand seconds before a 95mph pitch is coming to alert the batter of the upcoming "potential" pitch.

this is just stupid ...... as was eluded to its not like the batter has time to look up process a "sign" from some dude in a white shirt 400+ feet away and then adjust hi swing/approach depending on whether its an off-speed pitch or a fastball all between when the sign is given and the pitcher starts his delivery ....... if anything it would probably prove to be a distraction rather than helpful. The fact that the article makes it sounds like this is an institutionalized practice within the organization is laughable.
from the article: An MLB spokesman said "Major League Baseball has never received a complaint from any club about sign stealing in Toronto, and this is first [we've been] made aware of it." I dont know for sure, but I have to assume that if a club was really stealing signs in that obvious of a fashion, you can be damn sure that another team would lodge an official complaint.

Too bad for the Jays as they are playing pretty well. For me, this article is nonsense as stealing signs is like complaining about matching lines in hockey. Poor journalism by ESPN, this should be in the smut category not on a professional sports page.
I enjoyed this tweet, @TSNScottyMac

This gossip bullshit is absolutely ridiculous. If you're going to throw out accusations like that then stand by the courage of your conviction sand actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT instead of bitching about it to reporters. And another thing. If they were actually stealing signs, nevermind Aaron Hill and Arencibia for a second but do you think Snider would be struggling this much at the plate? People need to use their ****ing heads instead of their mouths. |

If the Jays were the top team in baseball this would hold more weight, like when the Patriots were caught taping opposing team practices.
