Faaaaaaaaack.... Steve Downie out for the season with a torn ACL... the team has recalled Brad Malone as per a.dater.

That sucks for the Avs, that line of Mitchell between Downie and Hejduk had a good mix of everything.

It sucks horribly to lose a fellow comrade, however somewhere in Siberia chalk up a point for Ryan O'Reilly side in terms of negotiating leverage.

Latest reports on O'Reilly contract situation are that the team still has their 2 year $3.5 million per year offer on the table as a bridging offer as the two sides seem unable to come to a long-term solution. Reports that O'Reilly wants $5/yr are untrue, however he's looking for $4 million/yr. So far the Avs have been too stubborn to come up $1 million over the two years, to get this kid inked and in the lineup. Hopefully the team comes to their senses soon.
