Take the proven (Stamkos) over the unproven (Hall) any day. And Enstrom > Whitney.

Thanks for all of the replies. It is what I expected but did provide me with a few new thoughts. Here are a few more thoughts/responses...
- IF Hall comes close to Stamkos in production, I lose this trade. I know there is some risk, but I DO think Hall will make it. Scouting is so good now that prospects like Hall rarely miss. He's also in a great situation. Last top picks...OV, Crosby, Tavares, Kane, Stamkos, Nash, Kovy. Last flop was 1999 with Stefan. al of the others are league leaders. Does this change anyone's mind if I don't mind the wait? - Hall scored 0.65 PPG compared to Stamkos at 0.52 PPG in his rookie season and Stamkos played with better players. Negligible difference, but it is better. - wasn't saying Stamkos is over the hill, just that St. Louis may be inflating his numbers by 10 or 15 points per year. Hall looks like a player that will generate his own chances rather than needing a setup guy. - I do believe Stevie Y will take good care of Stamkos, but chemistry is sometimes hard to replicate like my Heatley/Spezza vs Thornton example. Thornton is good, but not as good for Heatley as Spezza was. |

You also forget that Hall was basically handed the reins in Edmonton. Given ample ice time each game to do whatever he wanted, while in Stamkos' rookie year he was playing like 5 minutes a game on average until the last half of the season when they started making "Seen Stamkos" ads and such and making a huge fuss about it. That is when he went on a tear.

Good point...but what is your confidence level Hall can produce similar numbers?

There's one critical piece of information missing -- what are your scoring categories? How do goalies get points in your league?

I was making a point for Stamkos, not Hall. When finally given an opportunity Stamkos produced. I said to do the deal regardless of if you're giving Kane or Hall

Hey Jeff. I understood your answer. I was just asking you how confident you might be whether or not Hall would eventually be the 90-110 player Stamkos is.
What do you think? |

Funny you mention it, I was actually thinking of recommending a goalie upgrade over going after Stamkos. Hard to argue going after him though. I don't have a lot of faith in Atlanta, which then drags down my opinion of Pavs as well.

Agree on Pavs...think there is potential, but not completely sold. I picked him up later in the draft. Out of my goalies, he's the one I'm most comfortable giving up. Although Bob makes me a bit nervous. But I have to guaranteed number 1 starters.
